    Hi there,

I don't think those are very good media.

    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

It's a 2nd Class Media based on this site !

Try to burn one at 2x and not 6x like you are trying to.

Your burner has the latest firmware on it, so that's ok.

I think your burner doesn't like those media :)

    Hello.

Just a couple of comments. You don't have a lot of available memory and it doesn't take much to cause an error if memory gets tight. Memory is pretty cheap these days, even laptop memory.

I'd try updating Nero to version 6.6.0.18. Use the Nero 6 Clean Tool to uninstall Nero 6. Be sure to write down your program serial number.

    http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/Nero_6_CleanTool.html

    Here's a link to version 6.6.0.18:

    Pack 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

    Pack 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

The MB media really is of poor quality. Try the Sony again after

    Hello again.

The error would appear to be related to media.

Your burner is "old" in technology years. It may be the case the burner firmware is not able to fully deal with some of the newer media.

Have you tried creating an ISO file with Nero (use the Image Recorder as the output device) or whatever program you use for backing up your DVDs, and then burning that ISO with DVD Decrypter in ISO Write mode? Doing that will allow us to isolate Nero from the process and maybe provide a clue.

    Hello again.

It looks like DVD Decrypter is reporing the burner as a Q28A instead of an 800A. Same burner underneath though.

    [bold]Disc ID: MBI 01RG40[/bold]

This media you're using is not of high quality. We recommend Taiyo Yuden (availabe online), Verbatim, and Fuji and Sony media labeled as Made in Japan.

Also set your burn speed to 4X for this media and try again. Generally the burn speed shouldn't exceed half the rated speed of the media for a quality burn. With poor quality media, the speed needs to be reduced even further.

You might try some +R media. Do you have any friends you can exchange a -R Sony disk to get a +R disk to try?

Do you have access to another computer where you could install this burner to see if it's working correctly? If not, the burner is probably just bad. This was never one of Lite-On's best burners imo. (Lite-On is the company that actually made the burner you have. It's really a Lite-On 1693S.). New ones run around $40US in the U.S. and Canada. I'm not sure where you're located so prices may be very different there.
