dvd-r data disk and software

    I just tried burning my first dvd-r and already have a coaster. I use Pioneer 105 with Comp USA brand dvd-r 1x and used RecordNow Max. I tried burning a data disk with mpeg movies on it and it never asked to pick what speed to burn at. What is best recommendation here for burning data? Thx

    Your biggest mistake is using Comp USA media. You probably didn't do anything wrong, just crap discs.

    well i figured I'd rather screw up and learn on $1 per disk media. I will try Nero next but I can't find 5.5.10.7 update anywhere

    Just used Nero burning Rom 5.5.10.42 on the Comp Usa 1x disks and it worked perfect.

    glad to hear it. The first program i tried was recordnow also, and had no luck just like you.

    I use both Nero and Record Now Deluxe, i much prefer the Record Now software for DVD Back-up and Nero for audio.

    When I used RecordNow it was burning really quick and I believe it tried to burn 4x on a 1x disk which may have caused the error.
