DVD-R DL BenQ 1655 Compatibility?

I just upgraded to the 1655 and am trying to determine wether or not it can burn DVD-R DLs BEFORE I order the media. Newegg's description on one page doesn't list dvd-r dl, but on the main description, lists it as being able to burn -R DL media at 4X. DVDDecrypter reports that the drive cannot burn -R DL media, but DVD Infopro says it can. Anybody know for certain?

My standalone won't play +R media of any flavor, nor will it play -ROM. On a related note, is the -R DL media any good? Seems like everyone is in the +R camp.

thanks. it didn't occur to me to check the eu version. for some strange reason the us version of the site only lists the dq and the 1620, no mention of newer models. odd.
