Well i am new to dvd burning stuff.
I just bought a lite-on dvd writer and a dvd-r dl dvd for backing-up my files.
I am using nero's latest 7 version and to my horror it keeps giving the error that you need dvd+r dl or dvd+rw for writing this dvd.

But on the lite-on's box it says it supports this format.plz help.

    Hi Ankur_G,

Welcome to AD. Okay can you give some more details on your burner such as model number. Before I make a suggestion would like to look the burner specs up. Or you can click the link http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters type in the make of your burner and it will tell you what it is capable of burning.

Oops forgot to ask for a nero log..in your case
    Nero 7 history log location:
    C: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.tx

    Hi there,

Please provide us a full burn log.

Or tell us exactly what model is your DVD Burner, and what firmware version is on it !

Maybe your burner doesn't support DVD-R DL just DVD+R DL !

Or with a firmware upgrade, it will support DVD-R DL.

    Hi there,

    Isn't this a good burner ?

The hell with DVD-R DL, stick with Verbatim DVD+R DL and forget all the other issues :)

DVD-R DL might not be a good idea at all for video anyway.
    Data maybe.

    My 2 cents...
