what disk is it? what exactly did you do with Nero and what exactly did the error message say.... what version of Nero are you running?
And if at all possible can you post the Nero log!?

The discs are Great Quality (I have used them to rip a DL before)the error says i need a Class 9 disc which was already in the DVD drive but when I explore the properties of the disc it reads as a DL, I am running Nero 6.6. I took my videos file and converted them to MPEG2 which took me over 4.3Gb

still doesn't tell me what disk you are using...... what drive you are using.....and please don't tell me the D: or something along that line! What is the make and model of your drive! and you rip a DVD movie to the hard drive not to a Dual Layer DVD! Are you trying to copy on the fly? Where are the nero logs? how can anyone help you if you can't give any information to evaluate your problem? And there are many versions of Nero 6.6! what's yours? the stable version of Nero 6 is 6.6.0.18:
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe
before you do the uninstall put your serial # in a safe place, then uninstal, use the cleaning tools: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html
do a registry clean up, defrag and then reboot
re install Nero from the links above and then try again! Using quality media will prevent many problems down the road! if you're using a DL use Verbatim... those are the best DLs available. just my opion.

My DVD burner is a Hi-Val Internal 16X Dual Format/Double Layer EIDE DVD±RW/±R drive Model HDVD168DL. I am currently using Nero 6.6.1.4. Great Quality is the brand of DVD-R DL i am using. I recently backed up a disc which burned to both layers. After importing my video files (3-700mb)Nero told me to insert a DL disc in which was already in. I ejected the disc and put it back in and it would still not read it although after checking the properties, it read both layers to 8.5Gb. I don't have any logs yet.

I'm sorry ...... I thought you meant that my disks are great quality..... not the brand [bold]Great Quality[/bold] which, by the way I never heard of.... can you use Nero InfoTool and tell me what media code that disk has?

    use Nero InfoTool

or if Nero is still not seeing your disk then use DVDInfo Pro

Nero is definately having a problem recognizing your disk sooooooo either use better media...... Verbatim DLs are the best DLs there are! or update your firmware for you drive so that Nero can recognize your disk:

    good luck!
