the fbi warning comes on, but after that it turns into darkness...i have a cheapo dvd player, but is it a common thing? it works fine on my pc using vlc media player, when i open a directory file. i don't remember, but i might have used "file" and then burnt in in shrink. should i use "iso" for dual layer burning? any thoughts?

I've had the best luck using .iso files and burning with DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn for my DL burns. I am starting to use the free version of DVD-RB to compress, and the free version does not output an .iso file from the files output by DVD-RB. To solve this, I just use ImgTool Classic to create the .iso file, then burn with ImgBurn.

I have burned a few dl's in both iso mode and file mode. If you aren't removing anything from the original, then I would suggest ripping in iso read with dvd decrypter. then select the mds file when it comes time to burn. The mds file contains information like the layer break and such.

    Dual layer burning:

Rip with dvd decrypter using Mode ISO read to hard drive.

Then you can use Mode ISO write or IMG burn. There will be 2 folders on your hard drive. ISO image which is very small and your MDS files.

Highlight the mds folder and click open. You'll get an error if you try the ISO image file. Get those mds files, Then set burn speed and click the harddrive/burn icon to burn away. IMGburn also looks identical to dvd decrypter's MODE iso write. It's even authored by LightningUK himself/herself? Same author,2 slightly different burn programs.

These are excellent DL backup programs and are free.
