I hope this is the proper forum for this, my apologies if I am in error. I had a weird issue a while back when I first started backing up my movies. My old Toshiba 3109 played the first few TY +Rs (bitset to dvd-rom) but then the other movies I backed up were not recognized by the player (but they played in my roomie's player and his PS2). I did everything I can think of.. different burn speeds, switched burning tools and modes - Decrypter in file mode, then iso mode, Shrink in file mode then iso mode. The results were the same... only specific movie backups played, others did not. This was weird.. why should the success of my backups - as far as playing in the Toshiba 3109 - be dependent on specific movies??? Anyway, I decided to save up and buy myself a new player with PAL/NTSC, progressive scan, multi region, yadda yadda yadda... Recently I took the plunge into DL burning territory. Surprisingly, ALL of my DL backups (Verbatim +R bitset to dvd-rom) work in my old player..YET.. the single layer backups of the same movies do not!? Any ideas on the cause of this??? Since I am in the market for a new player it is kind of a moot issue, but I am really curious. Most people have compatibility issues with DL media, I seem to be the opposite. THanks..
Hi there, There's 2 important words in that sentence. OLD and Toshiba Maybe that DVD Player doesn't like DVD+R DL media at all. Like you say it's old. I have a Toshiba SD-3860 and it's the most picky player I ever had. I have an LG-7732NSC in the living room. Man that player will play DVD movies copied on toilet paper That's how good it is ! That Toshiba, man o man, what a picky one !
Maybe that DVD Player doesn't like DVD+R DL media at all. Huh??? It does like the DL media.. it plays every DL burn I have ever made. The issue is that certain movies, when backed up on single layer discs, wont play. It's not a media issue since specific movies, no matter what media I use will always play and other movies wont.
