DVD-R is 'OPEN'

    I burned a DVD-R disc which will not play on my stand alone player.
    Checking the disc with Nero I find that the disc is still 'open'.

    Questions is:Can a DVD-R, which is open, be closed?

    Try selecting "finalize disc" when burning.

    Thank you for your reply.I should have made my question clearer ;)
    Can this particular DVD-R be salvaged and, If so, what steps should I use?

    Well...I dont think so, because opened means you either havent finalized the disc or it is missing the lead-out.
