Ok, I must start by saying that I have been burning with Verbatim DVD+R discs for a few years with NO ISSUES, so I know the quick fix would be just buy some new discs, but my wife went and bought 100 dvd-r so I would like to make it work if I could... I am using a SONY DVD RW DRU-710A and this is what decrypter says when I insert the disc.. _________________________________________________________ SONY DVD RW DRU-710A BYX5 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD-R Disc Information: Status: Empty Erasable: No Free Sectors: 2,298,496 Free Space: 4,707,319,808 bytes Free Time: 510:48:46 (MM:SS:FF) Supported Write Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x Pre-recorded Information: Manufacturer ID: MCC 03RG20 Physical Format Information (Last Recorded): Disc ID: 0@P-!-00 Book Type: DVD-R Part Version: 5 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 1 Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP) Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 0 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 0 ________________________________________________________ It starts burning, but gets about 2 minutes in and comes up with the error of... ________________________________________________________ I/O Error! Your burner supports -r media so in theory it should burn ok,since it starts then stops,2 minutes is a reasonable amount of time i would've thought then to stop like that would suggest perhaps media quality, however why not try a couple of verbatim -R media if it works that solves it,i would also try the faulty media on another comp that has a relativley new burner & see if they turn into coasters or not, you'd be suprised how fickle burners are.It would pay to also post the name of the media your using as well as what is suggested by previous poster, not that a log means anything to me
If by decrypter you are refering to the venerable but obsolete DvdDecrypter, download DVDFabDecrypter (I believe there's still a free version) and Imgburn (also free). Clean temporary files with CCleaner (free). Defrag with Auslogic Disk Defragmenter (free). Whether you dump the original Decrypter or not is up to you. But burn with ImgBurn.
The name is not relevant all the needed info has been provided. Manufacturer ID: MCC 03RG20 = Verbatim 16X -R discs. To the OP these are good discs, but your burner is not seeing them as 16X which means there is probably no specific strategy in it's firmware. This is fairly common with older burners/firmware and newer media. Make sure your burner has the latest firmware, this may help.
MysticE Has it right. The Firmware is up-to-date. Your Burner is Sooo Old. My Advice is to invest in a new burner. http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=5&name=CD-DVD-Burners
your burner is almost 4 yrs old now.... even with the uptodate firmware it still might have a problem with the 16x media! Also those MCC 03RG20, which should be top of the line media.... but also could be made in India! If this is the case (Made in India) then it's crap! If I were you I would try to bring the rest of the spindle back to the store and tell them that it's faulty! I doubt if they even count the disks at all! Tell them that two were used and they can't be written on and ask for the good stuff in return! Verbatim made in Singapore/Taiwan, 8x, DVD+Rs! You'll do much better with these!
