I am an infrequent user of Nero - occassionally, to make movie from video taken with camcorder. I am getting an error message saying the DVD+R is not compatible, use another one or change settings in my compilation. I have tried 2 different brands (Memorex, Fuji). In the past, Fuji has worked fine. Any suggestions?

    Hi mcederbu
I'm thinking maybe your error message has to do with the size of the video. May be to large to fit on a +R single layer.

You can try the setting here - when you open Vision click on more then default video options. Click on the DVD-Video tab.
Under quality settings if it's set to automatic try standard or if it's set to high try automatic.

What version of Nero are you using? Like 6.6.0.18 or 7.5.0.9a.

At first I did get a message that my project was too large so I split in in half. Then, I got the message about incompatibility. My burning ROM version is 6.6.0.15.

Update your Nero to version 6.6.1.15a
    Here's how:

Before udating to 6.6.1.15a save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero6-tools-utilities.html
then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

update to Nero 6.6.1.15a, install Package 1 and Package 2 only:
    http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero6-update.php
reboot and you're good to go!

also I would use better media. Stick with the MIJ rule (Made In Japan). Look for the MIJ on the label of the box of spindle (Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxell, and some Fuji)... the only exception to this rule is Verbatim, which is top notch media but made in Taiwan/Singapore and the only non MIJs I will use.

The message I keep getting (after updating version): Sorry, your compilation cannot be written on this type of disc. Please insert a disc of the correct type or modify the settings of your compilation to make them compatible with current disc. Again, I have been successful in the past with fujifilm media.

More than likely you will not have a log from your last attempt - never got to the burn stage.

These logs are from 4/06 and before.

What's the rated speed of the Fuji's you are using? It's an older drive so newer media may not be compatible with it.

It can use a firmware update though - 3.20 is the latest from 3/04:
    link

Have you tried changing the quality settings in Vision?

    File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS & File 'Drivers\InCDfs.SYS'
Nero and Roxio don't always play well together esp. when both of the packet writing drivers show in the log.
So if all still fails you can uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool.
If you're not using Nero's InCD - uninstall it too and run the clean tool.

this shows you are still using version 6.6.0.0 and you still have even an older interface version of 6.3.1.4! You didn't update to 66018! follow my directions above to update to 66018! use the registry cleaner and ALL the Nero Cleaning tools! if you don't you will still have the older interface! defrag and reboot! if you follow the directions above to update to 66018 you'll have no problems.
your burner is old..... and so is your firmware. Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. Every company has its own methods to allow you to do a firmware upgrade. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades. you have firmware of 1.25..... the update is all the way up to 3.20: link

these drivers are packet writing software from Roxio (CDRALW2K) and Nero (InCDfs). many members say these programs clash with each other! other members say that their computers don't have problems with them! Packet writing utilities such as "InCD" or Roxio/Sonic are notorious for interfering with burn processes, as the way it works is to continually poll the burner to check for new media. This prevents the burn application gaining exclusive access to the burner, and sense code errors will happen. uninstall InCD (nero) and uninstall Roxio/Sonic and use the Roxio Zapper: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

I appreciate all the suggestions. I updated the writer and that didn't help. What's frustrating is that with no changes (same writer, same fuji's, similar project), all of a sudden it won't burn. I'll keep trying.....

If you haven't very recently - do a disc defrag, run a registry cleaner like ccleaner(use the cleaner & issues options), virus & spyware scan.

It may just be time though to put this drive to rest - max of 4x of +R media. It may just be on it's last legs.
