I am not shure if it it the 200i or the +r disks. What I did was use dvd Decrypter and rip down my cd then I followed the guide to put a dvd9 to a dvd5 including the menu's. After I got the dvd the way I wanted it and it played on my hard drive I used Imztools to make a img of the dvd then I used bitsetter to set the dvd burner to dvd-rom and then used DVD Decrypter to burn it.

It now playes fine on my standalone dvd player and on the computer.

After reading about different players I found out mine (Toshiba) would only play dvd-r media but found that people had gotten it to work with the bitsetter so I tried it.

HP has a program like bittsetter that suppose to do the same thing but I never could get it to work.

First of all, go get some +rw's. Second, download the bittsetter and change your writers compatibility to dvd-rom for +rw's. That was the ONLY way I could get + anything to work in my standalone. I got setup with the HP bulls**t writer too. I haven't had any issues making backups since then. I wouldn't waste my time with the +r's since u can't erase them and start over if they don't work. I've got a few coasters to show for them.

From what I get, its different strokes for different folks. Each PC is different, but the bittsetter should fix any issues you are having. Rmber, most standalones don't read +r media. Oh, and get +rw's again...for $2 more would u rather have a dud your stuck with or something u can erase and start over.

Run bittsetter b4 u open your burning software.
Did u look for your standalone in vcdhelp and see if they even support +r media?? Doesn't matter though, once u run bittsetter.

hmmm. I went to Best Buy to buy some +rw's and he said that they don't play in 95% of thw dvd players and he said that -rw's play in almost all the standalones. I thought it was the otherway around. Is this true????

Yeah, they told me that at Best Buy too. Guess what, my standalone doesn't read +rw's but after bittsetter it does. As you should be able to tell, 9 out 10 ppl don't know squat about burning unless they're actually doing it. I'm sure they told you it wasn't possible either. The IT guy at my job still doesn't believe I have 'working' backup's...anyway.

Now that you have bittsetter choose the dvd-rom option and click the 'for dvd+rw' and hit quit. Then open your burning software and go from there. Oh, insert your blank media, b4 u open bittsetter. These are the options/setting on the right side of bittsetter if your looking at the screen.

Again, there is no guarantee its going to work, but this increases the chances, and u can try again with a +rw. I was at the end of my rope until I downloaded the bittsetter. I'll hit you with the link that gives the info about bittsetter. Its at home.

    Hello Joe1234

I read all the post in this topic.......and I guess burning DVD's with HP 200i dvd writter is possible. I wish I could say that my problem is the same as yours, but my problem is during the recording phase. After ripping a dvd movie(anime to be exact)and when I'm ready to bring it back to a blank DVD, I get an "I/O error" message. I'm using a DVDDecrypter and follows the intructions from AfterDawn's website.

You seem to have perfected this part and I would definitely appreciate if you can tell the step that you use. THank You in advance.

    hello all..
i also own a HP DVD200i burner. However, i have not had any problems with burning dvds.
However, i use a method from www.doom9.org guides.
here is a quick lowdown on what i do(very crash coursey):
    i use these programs:
    -dvddecrypter
    -ifoeditor
-rempeg2 (if i need to transcode)
    -nero burner

I first rip only the movie files to my harddrive along with the Video_Vts.ifo file.
(dvddecrypter lets you choose only the movie files) (not including menus makes the whole process more streamlined too, not as many things to worry about)

after that, i use ifoeditor and strip the streams and create a new video_vts file (check out www.doom9.org guide "ifo guides, basic guide).

if my movie is small enough to fit on a dvd-5 dvd+r disc i then remove the region lock and get vts sectors with ifoeditor.

Then i burn it to dvd+r with neroburn (use the DVD-Video wizard) (i use memorex dvd+r media) and 22mins later, i have myself a nice working dvd-5 that works in nearly every dvd player i have tried.

hope that give ya a start!
    peace

Lhoci, what software are you using to burn.

does anyone know what a ddcmepatch.exe is? After givin out advice, I now can't get any movies to work. I'm thinking I've done something to the PC, I dunno. Tried to copy Harry Potter this week, plays fine in PC but not in standalone, following the instructions. Was having some issues with bittsetter. Think I may do a system restore.

Farrelan, how do you make an image? I'm kinda frustrated...made a few backup's, now can't backup jack! What type of Toshiba player do u have? I have a 3750 and it wouldn't play +r's but it did work with -r's. Have you been able to get +r's working using bittsetter? I haven't used any of the +r's since I bought a stack of +rw's.

Seamonkey..which wizard do you choose in Nero? I've been using recordmax, but it stopped working on me, I dunno. I downloaded Nero and it burned in about 20mins...but like I said, haven't been working in the standalone.

READ DVD STRUCTURE failed with SK=5h/ASC=24h/ASCQ=00h
I have a HP200i burner and can't get my standalone DVD player to accept my discs. DVD Decryptor works great, plays on my pc, but not my DVD player. PLease help. Thanks

I got that same error. The only thing I can suggest is uninstalling and reinstalling. I'm running XP so I did a system restore back to the point b4 I installed and then put it back on. V 2112. 2110 stopped wking for me.

Thats the only help I can offer.

Thank You Seamonkey for letting me know of Doom9 guides. I was able to back up my DVD nicely using my HP 200i DVD writer. And like you said, it plays on pretty much every DVD players in my house...including my PS2. It was awesome.
