What Burning Software are you using 7krievins?
I also have an HP 200i DVD burner. I have a pretty similar problems before. But then I tried using NERO as my burning software and used ifoeditor to set the DVD "region free" and
"Get VTS" to make the dvd backup work on your stand alone DVD players. Try Checking out Doom9 Guides as well.

    hi all

Just got a new machine with HP200i and I installed win XP and Nero.
Nero (or any burning software other than the HP burning software the 200i came with) can't see the 200i.
    Not even for burning CDs.
However, Nero can see my old and slow external CD burner.

Am I missing a driver or something?
Should I go back to Win98-SE?

Just purchaced a Ricoh mp5125a/dp. I dont know what software to use to Burn from a Normal DVD movie to a Blank DVD? There are tonns of software out there to copy from DVD to cd but then that defeats the point of my buying a DVD RW. I want to actually burn DVD to DVD.
    Thanks in advance

    OS: Win2000
    Burner: HP DVD200i
Media: HP (that came with the burner)
Problem: for making movies... +RWs read fine in my standalone player, +Rs do not.
    Tried: BitSetter
    Clicked: Check Settings
Error: READ DVD STRUCTURE FAILED WITH [etc..]

    Ideas?

I used bitsetter on my ricoh mp5125 and set the drive to dvd+r specification, i may be mistaken but bitsetter alters the way the drive writes, and not the media, cause if you think about it how can it alter a blank disk? anyway it worked for me and my +r disks now work in Toshiba standalones and before they didn't

    Zodiac,

I too have HP 200i DVD writer and I've been backing up DVd's for quiet sometime now. And all my back-ups DVD+R works fine with my standalone DVD Players including my PS2 without even using Bitsetter. All I do is I used IFOeditor and "Get VTS" sectors and then burn it. If your system of backing up still gives you problems, you may wanna try using IFOeditor instead of Bitsetter.

I think my standalone player might not be reading my DVD+R (hp dvd200i) disks because they're not finalized... I'm using MyDVD to burn my DVDs. Is there a program that will finalize a +R DVD? (I'm burning home-made MPEG files, not "ripped" files)

BitSetter does NOT work - when I put in a blank +R (or one I've written to) and click Check Settings I always get a "READ DVD STRUCTURE failed [etc..] "

Someone said their +R discs read fine in their standalone players so maybe I have to somehow just finalize the disc? If that's it, then apparently MyDVD does NOT do this when you burn +R's.

    Zodiac,

well, I really haven't done any home video conversions to DVD. But you are right that you have to finalized a Blank DVD+R disc in order to make it to your stand alone player. Are your Mpeg files in VOB file format? And have you tried using "NeroBurn" as your burning software?

Do you have the lastest ASPI drivers loaded (requried for CD/DVD ROM to interface with non MSN software, eg. Nero)

If not, go to www.adaptec.com and do a search for ASPI in the downloads section.

I found the problem - it was MyDVD not finalizing DVD+R discs. So now I burn to +RW to make sure they turn out ok, then use HP's "RecordNow" software to copy it to +R, and this finalizes it when writing, and it works perfectly in my JVC standalone player. I just wish I could find a program that would see the +R is not finalized and give you the option to finalize it from like a pull-down menu or something. Then I could burn straight from MyDVD to +R. Anyway, thanks to all who replied!!
