Ok, I did a search with even more confusion so I thought i would throw this out. After reading the Guide on this it states I need ASPI layer. How do I see if I have it, which version will work with XP pro (seen threads with different opinions),and what is it and what does it do?

    Hi,

Here's a link to ASPICHK which shows you what version, if any, you have installed:

    http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.jsp?filekey=aspichk.exe

Version 4.60 is generally regarded as the most stable for which you'd want to download ForceASPI.

I had problems with 4.60 so I'm using Adaptec's 4.71.2 which installs 4.71 and 4.60 which works perfectly for my system running XP Pro.

Both ForceASPI and Adaptec's 4.71.2 can be found in our software section.

If you have any questions about installing these, feel free to ask :)
