My DVD burner (Phillips DVD8801) has worked for many years using the same blank media and now it ends up showing as a CD player after inserting the blank media. I have searched the internet and the forums for a solution and tried everything from uninstalling the driver & rebooting, to updating to the latest firmware from Dell. Any help would be appreciated.
Showing in what? If you mean that; with Windows XP, your burner is showed as “DVD-RAM Drive” without any disc, though it is showed as “CD-Drive” with blank DVD disc under “My Computer”. I believe that’s how it is (at least mine is), and yours must have been. I know Vista is different, and I do not know older than XP. If you have problem burning discs or above is not your case, please post more details.
