Hi there, I have searched through for an answer to this, but I can only find things that kind of resemble it, but aren't it. My problem is I used to have a Panasonic DVD player and recorded tons of stuff onto DVD-Ram discs. Now I want to retrieve all that stuff and edit it, burn it to DVD-R, convert to AVI etc etc... I have AVS Video Converter which is sooooooo slow at converting VRO, and when it has finished, the sound is usually out of sync. I have DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter, the latter of which can take the disc and make an ISO out of it. that's all well and good, but how do I burn the ISO to a DVD-RW, but with a Video-TS folder?? Can Decrypter or Shrink convert an ISO into normal Video-ts VOB jobbies?? If that's not possible, is there a program that will? If there isn't, is there a program that will convert VRO to AVI or Mpeg without losing synchronisation in sound?? Would really appreciate help as this is driving me mental!!! Cheers Adam
That combination DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter should do it in combination by selecting in Shrink, Edit-->Preferences-->File I/O, and then under Burn Settings uncheck "enable burning with Nero". HTH, Rich
I have a Panasonic recorder and found that: a:not every DVD writer/Rom can handle DVD-Ram. b:neither shrink nor decrypter can handle the format c:TMPGEnc Author can read and process dvd-ram from the Panasonic (assuming the writer/rom drive is agreeable) http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/advanced_tmpgenc_dvd_author_guide.cfm
Not sure, but can your burner handle DVD-RAM? I would think if your burner can handle it than Shrink and Decrypter could handle it, but I could be mistaken. Regards, Rich
My (Aopen)burner can't handle RAM, but my (LG)DVD-ROM will. Shrink gives an error when trying to read the RAM disk.I will try Decrypter and report back. . .. ... Decrypter can rip the Ram disk to an ISO, but Shrink gives an'invalid udf..' message when trying to open the image.
Nero Vision 4 and ConvertXtoDVD (aka DivXtoDVD) are both better at converting files to DVD compliant format to play on your DVD players than the WinAVI video converter. Nero has an unlimited free trial you can download from Nero.com. The ConvertX leaves a logo on the output, but the trial will let you know if it's something you want to pay for. If you want to go from DVD to AVI, you may want to check out DivX Converter. DVD Decrypter will write ISO files and DVD Shrink will create an ISO with VIDEO_TS files, but ISO is just a "holder" for the VIDEO_TS folder. There is no conversion as far as DVD compatible content. More or less like putting marbles in a sack, the marbles don't change.
Thanks guys. I'll try changing the preferences on DVD Shrink and see what happens. DVD-Ram seems to be utter crap all round really. I have about nine friends with problems with it. Thanks for all getting back to me though, I totally appreciate it
As I said, DVD Shrink doesn't convert from one format to another (such as DivX to DVD). Shrink only transcodes DVD files.
