Hello, I am new to this so please forgive me if I have posted to the wrong forum or incorrectly. I have a Philips DVD recorder [610] and have bought VideoReDo to enable quick removal of unwanted video[adverts etc]. The program works well but it will not allow the edited verision to be placed back on the disk[ readonly as created by philips 610]. Ulead Movie maker will apparently allow direct editing of these disks but I wonder if it is possible software[freeare prefered] exists to enable both quick removal and rewriting bakc to same disk? To buy more software when later recorders are getting lower in price and faster I wonder whether to dump the 620[but ios nice unit] and get another? Hope you can help or advise. Bob
Once you burn video to a DVD-R or DVD+R disc, it becomes read-only and will not allow you to overwrite. They are write-once discs. You could use DVD-RW or DVD+RW, which are rewrittable disc to edit and then overwrite with. NOTE: DVD rewrittable discs are reported to not last as long as a good quality write once disc.
Hi Dolphin2, Thanks for the reply. I record the video to RW+ as this is the only format the philips will accept for recodring. It does play back most formats though. The disk does show as read only when viewed in the computers dvd drive and can only be edited by changing and saving to a folder on the hard drive. The choice then appears to be to author the disk creating a new menu before saving. A lot of work needed to do this to remove adverts etc. i was hoping there exists software [as Ulead suggested] that will edit the rw+ disk direct and leave in format recognised by the philips recorder. thanks again for your reply, bob
