I am getting a DVD recorder today..I have a tivo and I have a lot of shows recorded on it.. What I am intending to do is record all the shows to DVD+RW and then edit them on my computer.. I want to edit all the commercials out.. Then I was planning on reburning them to another disc and keep the cycle going until all my shows were backed up without commercials.. Is there a good free dvd editing program around? Someone please let me know thanks
DVD Shrink in reauthor mode will do the trick ... http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/Setting%20Start.pdf If you have Nero, you can do the same thing with Recode ... and, if you get a video capture card ($50 or so), you can dump your TiVO's contents directly onto your PC's hard drive
Wow thats great thanks.. I have a capture card.. How exactly would I dump directly onto the HDD? If I do that will I be able to view the files and edit them? Thanks for all the great info..
If you have Nero, it's pretty straightforward ... Use NeroVision Express and capture video to hard drive ... you can watch/preview and edit
Catfreak- the software at the site you mentioned above- is this free software to download?? How about AnyDVD and CloneDVD? Will they work for copying my DVD's?
thanks catfreak... i will give it a try when i get home.. Thanks again.. I will let you know how things turn out..
@ mdwldw AnyDVD and CloneDVD are excellent programs to 'backup' DVDs with .. but they do cost money DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink are also very good and they are free ...
@ [bold]catfreak[/bold] or anyone else who may know using nero is there a way to really "dump" my tivo contents onto the hdd or do i have to actually watch it all and recapture the video? Thanks again for you help thanks
I'm sure that you can 'dump' your TiVo content onto your PC's HD .. I'm not sure exactly how, but since you have a video capture card ... I'd play around a little and experiment .. just don't delete anything of intrest to you until you've checked and made sure that it copied ...
