I have a new Panasonic DMR-E85H and having trouble setting up the unit. Have followed the manual, but don't get anything in the unit's window other than *Channel1 Remote1*. How necessary is it to have the proper TV connections hooked up ? Is this critcal to setting up the unit ? I have the same setup as noted on page 7 of the operating instructions booklet. My wish is to transfer VHS Home video to DVDs. Would appreciate any help from the list. Thanks in advance. Newbee Papadoo
I don't have the Panasonic, but since no one else is answering your question: That CH 1 is the input source. It probably is set to pick up channels through the antenna. You have to go to Setup somewhere and make sure that the recorder knows the input source is cable (so it should read something like Line 1). The way I have mine set up is Line 1 for cable (S-video) and Line 2 for VCR (composite). That way, you can switch to either to record from the remote.
