DVD recorder won't burn DVD's

Wondered if anyone had any suggestions.
I've got a Samsung Writemaster in my PC (Win XP, AMD 1.9GHx processor), and used Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD for home movie recording. Very limited program but does the job with a camcorder.
Recently updated the driver because otherwise I discovered the player couldn't cope with running new games (Star Wars LegoII, for example).

And just discovered I can't burn DVD's anymore. Got a trial version of Ulead Videostudio 10, and it goes through the whole process of authoring, menu's etc, and says project complete, but the disc is blank.
Pinnacle does the process, then says at the end "burn incomplete, disc may not play" - and the disc is blank.
    Still burns CD's (eg. music).
Problem there whether it's captured video or avi files.
    Any suggestions?

When you say you updated the driver, do you mean the device drivers or the firmware (downloaded from samsung??).

If it was the device drivers that you updated and you are satisfied that the problem started after the update, you could try rolling them back.

    right click My Computer>Properties>Hardware.

    1.Start Device Manager.
2.Double-click the device for which you want to restore the driver.
3.Click the Driver tab, and then click the Roll Back Driver button.

Yes, it was from the Samsung website. I suspected I'd end up rolling back - it's just a shame because that could well mean byebye to several new games - or else having to flip back & forwards depending on what use I was putting the DVD to.

Actually, that means it wasn't the driver, it was the firmware, so presumably you can't just "roll back" like that - or can you?

The firmware would have to be re-flashed and I don't know if your drive would support that.
It may accept it and work or accept it and die or simply give a message saying it cant do that.
Before jumping off that bridge, try Samsung support.
It looks like you installed new firmware and lost the ability to burn dvd's.

Interesting. Just phoned the people who support Samsung kit (Hanaro) and they said it's a problem this model has - so they're sending me a new DVD writer!
So anyone out there with a TS-H552B that's playing up (and there seem to be several threads like this on other forums), ring Samsung, get the right number, and see if you also get a new player.
I managed to fix it briefly - I checked the option in "properties/settings" saying "write with verify"< and it did 2 projects, then stopped again.
    ??!!£(&^!!
