Does anyone know how to get good quality DVD to DIVX rip into a 700MB CDR? I follow the afterdawn.com dvd to divx guide but what should i change if i want it to fit in 1 CDR rather than 2 and still have good quality.

All you have to do is change the bitrates.

You are working from http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/dvd2divx_anamorphic.cfm yes?

In the section "DV-Tool", where it says "In the storage media box you should manually modify the entry and change it to 1200 MB", you instead enter the size you desire, i.e. 700MB if you want to fill a 700MB CDR.

I would also recommend doing the MP3 conversion with a bitrate of 128kbps instead of 160kbps, and J-stereo mode instead of Stereo.

Most movies will still look just fine. I wouldn't try this with some 3 hour epic but the average less-than-two-hour movie will still get about ~800kbps for video which looks fine with divx5.
