What a mess I don't understand anything about CDRoms and CDR/RW's But this is my problem...I have a IDE DVD Rom and a Sony CD R/W, I have downloaded a program from Sony to check the statis of my CD R/W and it checks out fine read and writes but only to CD-R I can not get it to write to CD-RW, even though it use to...When I put a CD-RW in it says there is no media in the machine and to insert a writable disk...I also have a disk that it wrote to and it can not read off of a CD-RW either, yet the drive checks out? I made a image of a file on a CD-RW for my home recorder for updating and it works fine in my home recorder, but need to update my home recorder and trying to make another image and my CDR-RW will not even recognise the disk, the same disks I have always used, this recorder is not even a year old its a Sony CD-RW also reads DVD's but not a dvd writer..I must have something wrong because the drive checks out with sony diagonistics (as long as I have a CD-R ) in there but not a R/W, I have tried several so don't think it the RW media, both my CD-DVD Rom and my CD-RW is suppose to read cd-RW but both do not even see them, I have cleaned them both, my burning program is Nero and also trying CDXP burning Pro and both don't see a CD r/w , media? Can any body help with some kind of suggestions as to what is wrong.
Two days ago I was at a friends house and one of his two DVD Burners wouldn't read a simple CD-R I recorded using my computer. I guess sometimes it's the media and sometimes it's the Drive... Change media brand and/or check for firmware.
