I have a cd-writer/dvd-rom combo drive on my computer and for some reason it will not read my dvd-r cd's to download anything. Isn't dvd-rom and dvd-r the same thing.... it also keeps saying no valid cd-r but its a combo drive.... i don't understand it at all someone please guide this illiterate computer person lol.
I'm a bit confused by your question but here is a description of a combo drive a combo drive will normaly read cd's and dvd's but can only burn cd's it cant burn dvd's if it cant read a dvd then either it is faulty installed wrongly or your media(disks) is of very low quality or damaged
@lilbitcmt I think I'm having the same problem...My DVD-Rom drive will read backup cd's but not backup dvd-r's. it is only recognizing real dvd's and dvd+r's. Is this sort of the trouble you are having?
