I installed a new dvd rom drive a while back. It's a plug and play drive that seems to work well. My computer thinks that mt old drive is still there because it displays the old model number when I look in Device manager and, when I open my burn programs. How can I delete my old model number/drive and install my new model number/drive where the computer will recognize it ? My new drive had no software with it just in case anyone wants to know. Thanks very much for your help, strone

Just like DDP said, but you dont need to go into safe mode, but you can if you want..

Right Click My Comptuer then go down to Properties
Now depending on the version of windows you have, if you have windows 98/me, click the Device Mangager tab, if you have 2000/XP click the Hardware tab, then click on the Device Manager Button.
Now click on the + next to DVD/CD-ROM Drives.
Left click once on the drive you want to uninstall (eg your old drive) then rightclick then go down to either Remove or Uninstall.

    Restart the Computer.

The comptuer should now detect your new Drive and install it.
