dvd-rom not recoginse the DVD-R

    I have a hp a6100n and it does not recogise the dvd-Rs. its strange because when I use "disc copier" it writes to them just fine but if I dont open the "disc copier" then it will say "insert a disc" when i click on it from my computer menu. Any idea what it could be? I uninstalled the writer and looked for the drivers.

    Have you checked for a firmware upgrade for your drive? This is different than a normal driver update. Typically you will find these updates on the OEM website for your DVD drive. This may help.
