Oh, heres the deal, I decided one day to tweak my xbox dvd rom, and I wont go into the details, but I destroyed the laser. Its a philips drive. Is there any way I can get a laser replacement for it? or can I even take a laser out of another dvd rom and put it in my xbox drive? any help would be great. THX.
oh, and I know about the Samsung SD-616T replacement, and I am interested, but I cant find a place that has it and will ship to canada for a reasonable price.
Go to ebay.com...here are some options. http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=xbox+samsung
I don't understand how these drives can sell for so much. Probably 6-8 out of every 10 new XBOX's I buy has the Samsung drive. Thats hardly rare. Maybe they are just rare in the US and not the UK. Anyway did you try using a multimeter to set the laser unit back to the correct ohms. About 650-950 ohms is where it should be. Could save you a lot of time, money and hassle if you haven't tried this.
Yah, Ive tried that... Im pretty sure I destroyed the laser. It was a philips drive... Samsung drives arent that rare anymore, but they were when I bought mine.
