I have been backing up my movies for a couple of years with my lg VOM-12E48x and I have a couple of hundred dvd's. But when I put one of those dvd's into any other dvd rom they will not read. I changed from formats and still none read. How do I fix this??? I used roxio Easy CD Creator 6 to make them.

    Cheers,

I used Teon DVD-R 8X. Ok I just found that I had a couple of different brands. Other Brands Read ok. But the Teons do not. I have the majority of my backups on the Teon DVD's. So why wont they read on any dvd rom besides the one that made them?

    Thanks,

    Bad Media

Those code out to CMC Mag which in other words is complete junk... That's why now players that could read them before can't because they don't last as long as a good media like Verbatims or Ty's

If your DVD+RW Drive still reads them fine I would try re backing them up on some really good media and see if that helps...

here is a site with some reviews on Teon Media....
    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.p...&hits=25&country=&search=Search+or+List+Media

You can use a program called DVD Identifier to see which code of media you have...

Well Selecting Media I would buy anything Made in Japan and Verbatims

but stay away from almost anything made in Taiwan (few exceptions but it's safer to just stay away)

Unfortunantly seems like all the teon -8x and the majority of teon +8x are made by cmags!!! UGHH!

The 20 pack spindles of the +8x coded as Ricohjpn, pretty good stuff, but the 40 packs coded as cmags.

Cmags have to be burned slower/at a reduced backup target/and they can still be unplayable 6 months down the road!

There's a new staples opening up somewhere around columbus ohio and had a teon special 1 day sale yesterday-saturday.They had the 40 pack spindles for $3.94 and 99% sure they would be cmags.

Unfortunatly this is a hard lesson learned by many here so don't be to ashamed because it happens all the time. There is no substitute for buying quality media. You could do other things different but in my opinion the quality of media you buy should always be that of the highest quality, and I would suggest to get some Taiyo Yudens or Verbatims. There is other good media out there but with those two you really can't go wrong ever.

    Cheers
