    Does a dvd hold more than the 6 hour vcr tape?

    Also is there a dvd rw coming up that will erase and rewrite?

    I heard on tv that walmart is not going to sell any blank vcr tapes anymore.

    That's where we have been buying our blank tapes - I suppose the will be available for awhile yet in in other places but it's arrogant of Walmart to (again) tell us what we should want - instead of US telling them what to provide for us.

    Thanks

    A dvd could hold 6 hours of vcr quality video. Yes, they already do make dvds that are re-writeable

    6 main consumer types around.

    DVDRAM = Rewriteable
    DVD+R = write once unless using multisession
    DVD+RW = Rewriteable media, erase and format available
    DVD+RDL = Write once Dual layer
    DVD-R = Write once unless using multisession
    DVD-RW = Rewriteable media, erase and format available

    In addition to the above info given, you might try a standalone dvd recorder. Many of them have 80-120GB harddrives which provides you with many hours of video and you can burn to dvd at your leisure using the above mentioned formats.
