dvd rw drive problem

ok bear with me i have a liteon drive sohw 1633s drive about 4 years great bunner no problems ontil now, it reads a disc when it feels like it, sometimes i have to open and close the dvd writer 3 or 8 times just so i can burn a dvd movie that i encoded. trying to drag anything off a dvd is even worse. i use verbatim dvd+r. plus have updated still same problem

 

Sounds like your drive is dying. 4 years is a Long time. I never keep ar DVD Writer in service for more than a year, although I have a 1633 as a backup-backup-backup drive. It used to burn at 8x but the max it will do is 6x now.

I'd suggest that you consider buying a new drive.

if you have > 2k burns I would definitely say that your drive is "tired".

I would try to crossflash the drive to: SOHW 1653s http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html for firware, http://codeguys.rpc1.org/oc.html for crossflashing info & http://codeguys.rpc1.org/utilities.html for utilities.

thanks pernal tried that have the red lite now but its on the way out still able to burn but have to open and close the drive evey now and than but its better than notting stick with it till it goes thankes
