Hello, I have backed up a good amount of Dvd's now all the sudden my Sony Dru-710a Drive will no longer read blank media. I just tried to update the firmware- BYX4.(With no luck ) I use Dvd Decrypter, Dvd Shrink and AnyDvd. Decrypter just keeps saying "medium not present"
I am using Memorex Dvd-rand I know its not the the media to use, but up to this point I haven't had any problems with it, so I suppose that's not the problem. Can anybody point me in the right direction ?

Thanks Afterdawn, and all you good people :)

    cmax420 ,
Welcome to the forum. I want you to D/L DVDinfoPro ( free) and do a blank media check. If you can not do it in yours use someone else's computer to see who the real manuf of those disks are. Memorex uses between 4-6 different manuf and there is no quality control. That is why most people stay away from that media. If it is different manuf then that could be the problem although I would suggest that you try Verbatim or some Taiyo Yudens or Maxells as they are the better blank media. You might even try Sony since the burner is a Sony.
Have you updated the burner's firmware?

Ok, I also have TDK Dvd-r Disc's And my burner reads them fine, But I have been using these Memorex about 30 now so far with no problems, Is there any reason they would just stop working all of the sudden?

Change of manuf. That is why I suggested you use the program to verify the real manuf. of the disk. They could have put in the spindle 2-6 different manuf of Memorex disks. If TDK's are recognized then use those
