I haven't changed anything on my computer since i installed the new OS. (Vista 32 Ultimate) and that was about a month ago. My Optiarc AD-7190A DVD +-RW drive worked fine until recently. For no apparent reason it no longer properly reads any discs.

When i place a disk into the drive it will not update the name of the media in the My Computer window, just says DVDRW Drive. Whenever I put in a game cd or dvd and try to play, it says no disc inserted. The auto play function no longer works.

Sometimes when i try to put in a game disk and explore the cd or dvd, it thinks there's an empty disc in the drive. When I go to My Computer screen and look at the drive icon, it will be a general application icon (the sheet of paper with little icons on it) and it will say whatever the last disc put in the drive was before i turned off my computer.

Last night i had UT3 dvd in the drive and turned off my computer with it in there, now no matter what i put in the drive it says DVDRW (E:\) UT3_RC7. If i put in my World of Warcraft cd and restart the computer it says DVDRW(E:\) WoW_cd2. And so on for any cd or dvd i put in that drive.

If i double click the drive icon, it thinks theres a blank disc. If i explore it i can see all the proper cd/dvd files on the disc.
I have tried many things but i don't know what the issue is.

Have you tried uninstalling the driver for your DVD drive from your device manager and then restarting to let Windows re-install the drive. Have had to do this once or twice with my drives, might help.
