I just bought a spindle of DVD-RW discs and my machine will not accept them. First I get disc error and then if I try to format the disc, it says the disc is dirty. I'm not going through the whole spindle, but it's happened with the first six. All other discs work fine, even the one that's been recorded on numerous times.

I have a Sony recorder, probably a 2003 model, I think the model is RVR G87. (I'll have to double check that).

They are generic discs (Office Depot), but my other ones that worked fine were also generics (Staples).

Hope somebody can tell me what the problem is. Maybe I should have bought name brand discs as I've seen reference to that effect in an earlier discussion.

    Thanks.

Of the house brand discs, Office Depot seem to be the best. Are the discs that you've had success with DVD-RW of are they DVD+RW? I know that Sony driver seem to like the + format discs more that the - discs.

I've always only used DVD-RW as well as DVD-R. Does this help you any??? I have some favorite shows that conflict so I like to record one or the other.

    Thanks.

RDR GX7. I haven't had any other problems except with the DVD-RW. I have certainly gotten my money's worth out of the machine.

Thanks for all your help. I took the Office Depot discs back and got Maxell which worked just fine.

May your days be bright and joyful.
