I'm working on an imac Intel Core 2 Duo with a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06 burner. I just bought at box of Memorex DVD+RW rewritable disks for backing up video. I successfully burned 3 files, taking up 1.37GB on the disk. But now, when I go back to add more files, or erase the existing ones, I find out that: 1. Available capacity on disk is Zero KB 2. I can't delete a file because the Delete button is greyed out. 3. I can't add a file because I get a message saying that the DVD+RW disk "cannot be modfied." This is the behavior I got when trying to do all of the above with a -R disk, and thought that I had the flexiblility to record up to 4+GB, and be able to add/delete files from a +RW disk. Any suggestions for what I need to do to get the DVD+RW to work as intended? Thanks.
Hi, 1)disc was most likely finalized so no new data can be added 2)need to record in multisession 3) to reuse disc need to erase (that means you lose everything on the disc)prior to adding anything new
Thanks for your feedback iluvendo. And some additional questions if I may: 1. disc was most likely finalized so no new data can be added How does the disk get 'finalized'? I don't remember that being a selection option. 2)need to record in multisession Based on the multisession link you sent: how does one typically control setting up multi-sessions? I don't remember that as an option upon burning either. 3) to reuse disc need to erase (that means you lose everything on the disc)prior to adding anything new Are you saying, for example, that if I have 10 files on a disk, and want to add a new one, I'd have to erase the previous 10 first? Thanks.
Sometimes I use Nero, and unless multisession burn is checked, the burn is auto finalized and no new data can be written. To get multisession, prior to burn, need to check (see selection menu) To add new data to disc, first need to erase disc, then start as a new disc. In erasure of disc, you lose everything on disc. So I suggest to copy contents of disc to HDD prior to erasure then reburn data to erased disc and and new data (also check multisession)
I use nero too for erasing DVD RW discs. Try formatting the disc. Right click on it and choose format.
you could copy the 10 to hard drive then add 11 to it and burn again - before erasing but yes to add more files as is dont finalize and make a multissesion project.
