I've seen a couple of threads on this topic but, being a [bold]complete[/bold] novice, I can't quite figure out what my problem is. I've just bought a new Swisstec 1028 DVD set-top player/recorder. The manual is in "Chinglish" but it does describe the unit as DVD[bold]+{/bold]RW and DVD[bold]+[/bold]R. When I try to get in to setup (on TV), I'm getting an "error disc" message on the unit. Could that be because the blank disc I'm using is designated as a DVD[bold]-[/bold]? Sorry if that seems a silly question to all you experienced folks but I'm trying to get started by a process of trial and error, so I'm not sure if I'm doing something else wrong or the problem is as I've described above.
If it says +R/RW that is the format it wants, it will not do -R/RW. It will read -R format just not write
