Hey gang, I've spent the afternoon trying to fix this issue, to no avail, so I've come on board to see if you wise and experienced folks can help me out. I've been using DVD Santa full retail to convert an Xvid movie to DVD format, then burning it to a DVD-R with Nero. Everything is smooth and quick, and I'm pleased enough with the quality it puts out with one odd problem: When I play the produced files or the burned dvd on my computer, everything is perfect, but when I play it on either of my standalones (a JVC and a no-name), it's as though the image has been "zoomed in" to the middle of the frame. In other words, it cuts off a couple of inches on either side, and shrinks the letterboxing on top and bottom, exactly what would happen if I hit the zoom button while watching a normal dvd. I'm using the latest ffdshow, and I've tried converting to 4:3 and 16:9, both yeilding identical results. Any thoughts?
I was just about to post this as well- its very strange. I also have a divx compatible dvd player, and both the original avi and the converted dvd video plays ok on that, just not on my downstairs normal player. That player wont let me zoom out! Someone must know how to solve it
I have had many problems of this sort with DVDSanta. I bought it, then after awhile, donated it to my cousin as I assumed it didn't create fully compliant DVD's. I bought WinAVI to replace it. Weird thing is, the problem with DVDsanta dvd's ocurred on one of my three cyberhome CH-300 dvd players, but not the other two. The discs would play fine in some dvd players that I tried but not in others. I should note that a time or two (though rarely) this has ocurred with WinAVI. I am not sure what the cause is - some dvd players play them fine, others wouldn't.
