    hi

see the round cut out part?

well that slides in like a thin credit card in the tray enclosure when shut to grab the clip that holds the tray shut you pull it to release the tray and insert disc cpy and close it! all it does is when the ps2 has booted passed the sony ps2 screen bios (THE COPY PROTECTION CHECKS!) after you can play copies! but you cant as to use the eject button will make it boot again to ps2 logo protection check but if you dont use the button and basically grab the tray clip to open it, it thinks its still loaded! you fool it it to work!

    NICE!

    Hi All,

I have this weird problem for the past few weeks. Here is my configuration when I burn DVDs:
Toshiba laptop: 5205-s703, Win XP Pro
    DVD Burner: Toshiba SD-r6012
    Nero: 5.5.10.20
    DVD-R: Fuji Film 1x
    DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5
    768MB Ram, 60gb hard disk

I backup the DVD using DVD Shrink and burn using Nero. Burning fails in the middle. I wasted almost 10 DVDs. This works every other time. Among 50 DVDs, I lost almost 10 DVDs.

Is this a problem with Fuji DVDs or with Nero?
I even tried the latest version of nero..same problem.
Appreciate if you can share your experience.

Nero6 Recode works great when used with AnyDVD. Start up Nero Recode, one command "Import DVD" with "fit to disk" checked.
It reads it, shrinks it and burns all in the one program. With AnyDVD on for the drive you are reading from you don't have to decode the movie. The whole process is pretty quick and it can't get much easier than this.

AnyDVD is a driver, which descrambles DVD-Movies automatically in the background. The
DVD appears unprotected and region code free for all applications and the Windows operating system as well.

I only have the demo version of AnyDVD but will purchase after trying a few more DVD's. It's done 5 out of 5 so far.

    Nero 6 Recode Version 0.9.7.0 www.ahead.de
    AnyDVD Version Version 2.1.0.9 www.slysoft.com
on a WinXP Pro system with Sony DRU-500A

    Hi Rotary,

Thanks for the info. I have tried all these Nero versions: 5.5.10.20, 5.5.10.42, 6.0.0.23, with DVD Shrink 3, beta 5

I still have the same problem. I lost a couple of DVDs yesterday also. I tried with some new media, Kyphermedia, which works a lot with my drive.

Could this be a problem with DVD Shrink?

I have another problem also: Some of my DVDs I backed up earlier don't play on my laptop now. They only play in the DVD player. What am I missing?

Please share your experience guys!! Thanks!!

After spending a lot of money on DVD burners and to DVD +/-R discs. Seeking for the best S/W free or with charge I'm using the following method in order to back-up my favorite movies and protect the original one's from my son's treatment!
Step 1: Rip the movie in file mode (DVD decrypter or Smart Rip are both good enough).
Step 2: Extract only the main movie (IFO edit is excellent). You don't need extras such as interviews, etc. since you own the originals.
Step 3: Compress the main movie to the appropriate ratio in order to fit on a 4,36 GB blanc disc, if necessary (DVD Shrink is the easiet for this task).
Step 4: Prepare the files for burning trying to make the disc playable from the most home (black) devices. For this task you must use once more IFO edit performing the forementioned detailed instructions:
(a). Check if all files are NOT Read Only. If this is not true change the mode.
(b). Open the VIDEO_VTS file amd press the "Region Free" button. Usually this hapenned already in previous steps.
(c). Next press "Remove POP Ups" button, removing in this manner the annoyng dennies eg. in case you want to change the subtitles in the middle of the movie.
(d). Last click on "Get VTS sectors". IFO edit will ask for permission to continue, stating that all old .IFO files will change. Just give your permissions. When leaving the program will notify that changes had be made on .IFO files. We know it! just now we did them... So we tell to the program not to worry and we close it because we don't need it any more.
Step 5: Burn the new compiled movie. The only program that I used since now is Nero (from v.5.0 up to 6.0). The settings are:
(a). Drag all files under VIDEO_TS directory vjecking if all names are in capital letters.
    (b).Use the option "Write DVD...".
(c). Just in case of older home devices switch from "DVD files" to more conservative one's like "DVD-ROM" and right afyer this "File system version = UDF 1.02".
That's all! Keep deep in mind that all information should be used only in cases that you OWN the prototype discs!

I have been following these exact instructions for "backin up" but not using DVDecrypter first, skipping right to DVDShrink. My results (knock on wood) have been flawless. Am I perhaps missing a key component/task w/o DVDecryptor??

    Hi all. :)

I must confess I didn't take the time to read the whole thread, but I can tell you that most backup problems are related to burning.

Either the media used is not reliable (from one disc to another, or one batch of discs to another), something interfered with the burning process (like multi-tasking while burning, or burning several backups in a row), or the wrong the burning software was not set properly.

For the first possible cause, simply use better media (normally more expensive because they have better quality control).
For the second possible cause, do not multi-task while burning and restart your burning software in-between burns.
For the third possible cause, feel free to view the user-friendly guides at:
    http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php ;)

Sometimes, DVD Shrink is also not able to read a DVD directly (usually because it is damaged, dirty, or badly authored).
When this happens, simply use DVD Decrypter to rip [bold]all[/b] the files first, and then use DVD Shrink "Open files", selecting the "VIDEO_TS.IFO" one.

    Hi All,

Finally I just burnt a DVD after many failures, using Burnatonce. Nero doesn't work for me. Nero was working till last month.

Now I have another problem: The DVD I just burnt on my laptop, doesn't play on my laptop, but plays fine on my DVD player.
What do I need to do to get this DVD recognized by my laptop?

    Thanks!!

    @ Rotary,

Thanks for the positive feedback. :)
I am the owner/webmaster of DVDShrink.info, but I'm not the owner/developer of DVD Shrink.
I'm just trying to help him and his software users (as well as DVD-backupers in general). ;)

The site is fairly recent (3-4 months), but should evolve in parallel with DVD Shrink and related sofwtares, mainly via the addition of new guides.
