I'll give that a try when I have time. I already tried Anydvd with Nero Recode. My rip time almost doubled, so thats out. I'll try anything once.

To which I'd like to add:
Try it if there's a trial version, but please don't go and spend $100 (or whatever it costs) before you do. ;)

I bought DVD X Copy Express before I knew about all these other options. I wouldn't buy another one of 321studios products. Jerry

Can someone please help me, I'm at backing DVD. I have ripped and compress DVD with DVDSHRINK. Now I'm trying to burn the backup using Nero 6.0.0.23. I'm using Memorex DVD-RW 1x-2x. My burner is a Sony DRU510A. Nero is returing error "Burn Failed at 2x(2,760 KB/s)". I hope someone can help me. Below is my log of Nero.

I've been back and forth with dvdshrink & nero6. Nero6 tends to have issues with dvdshrink. try nero5 instead and use one of the manuals floating around. you should still be able to find nero5 out on the web. good luck

    Hi Rotary,

I just burnt a PS2 DVD using Nero and that doesn't play on my Playstation. Any ideas. Do I need to follow a different burning process for PS2 DVDs.

    Please reply. Thankyou!

DVDShrink and Burnatonce. Both free, both work. Why pay through the nose (at least contribute via Paypal to the guys/gals who wrote these great programs.

Its me again. This is what i did. I uninstalled all DVD editing, buring software from the PC. Uninstalled the Sony DRU510a. Reinstalled DRU510A. I installed it as my slave drive. My master drive is Sony CD-RW. Installed Nero 5.5.10.54. I tried to create a backup DVD following the guide at DVDShrink.info and the guide at www.chrismccann.co.uk. I used DVDShrink to rip and compress. Using Memorex DVD-RW 1x-2x. My system is WINXP, 768 megs memory. Nero is giving error "Invalid field in command" and "Could not perform start of Disc-At-Once". I have tried changing my IDE Secondary Channel settings but still no luck. I'm tired of messing with this drive. Can someone please help me.

These are more than likely the cause of your problem, tuc23.
Try setting you DVD RW as master, and enable DMA.

    ok ok ok ok guys
I dont know what is happening over there in the land of the stars and stripes, the baseball and gridion(great game by the way id like to see our rugby boys here in Australia play your gridion boys)

    Now I have the following

    Compaq Presario 1.67 ghz
32 mb on board video card
    a stock standard sound card
    480 meg ram
    generic 40x cd burner
LG 2x DVD Multi Drive Burner
    2 HDD 1 x 60 gig 1 x 8o gig
my computer is running that hot I have the side of the case open with a fan sitting on the desk next to it to keep it cool.
so its nothing flash pre built not a custom job I brought it of the shelf at a shop called Harvey Norman
I use Princo B grade disks nothing flash $1.00 per disk =$100 for 100 disks (thats Australia dollars)

Now I can burn dvd's 1 of a minimum of 5 ways and they work each and everytime without fail the only time a failure has occured is when its the disk itself
these are the ways I can do it

compress with dvd shrink and burn with nero 6 burning rom both programs are used at default setting

DVDXCOPY Xpress copies the movie only with out fail

DVDXCOPY copies the disk and splits it over 2 disks

DVDXCOPY Platinum Simple copies just the movie or the entire disk (compresses as it goes)

DVDXCOPY Platinum Advanced shirks the contents
    and burns
I do not remove anything, everything gets copied, all subtitles, all sound options, everything, if its on the disk it gets copied

Now my cd burner is set as my master and the dvd burner has 3 different setting Slave (SL), Master (MA)and CS (Cable Select(CSEL)) mine is set as CS.

I dont use dvd ripper or any other programs like that just one of the above.

In all the time that I have been doing this I have had 1 failure but that was due to the disk.

So therefore there must be something wrong with the following:

The default settings have been changed, or
The disks are of poor quality, or
The two drives are set as either both master or both slave, or
The computer you are using is not compatable for the burner, or
    The burner itself

Now remember although these new flash 4x and higher dvd burners say that they burn at that speed does not mean they do. What do I mean, well no dvd disk is perfect and the newer dvd burners seem to have problems with disks due to imperfections on the surface of them (.1 of a mm thicker or thinner in one spot of the disk) mine burns at 1.5x or 2x constantly, it takes me 45 minutes using DVDXCOPY Xpress from start to finish and yet a friend has a brand new 4x pioneer dvd burner and doing the same thing takes him 2 hours (using same program and disks)and he has more failures.

Also have you considered the following there is dvd minus and dvd plus, are you using the right disks for the drive? or is yours plus and minus if so have you set the drive according to the disk be it plus or minus. Also remember that minus dvd disks are the ones reccommended for use in stand alone dvd players.

If you want i could have a look at my dvd shrink and nero settings and let you know.

Cheer up guys it all works out in the long run, Hopefully.

    bluedog out

    Hi there,
I don't know how many of you are using a legal licence for activating the Nero features, but I tell you it's really tricky! I can't afford to buy a licence so I use the key generators available on different places on the net and the result was pretty interesting. To be able to get full features of this software I installed all the 3 packages downloadable! And I started generating keys. 1 out of app.25 keys was able to activate features like mp3 or dvd encoding. The easiest way to do that is when you generate the key for Nero Vision Express 2 and all of a sudden every feature appears in the menu. After that all you have to do is remember the serial that activated your full Nero. Another trick from Nero: the latest update .28 does recognise fake serial numbers already installed and quits the program after 3 tries! They call these numbers Non-Licence attempts which of course its fair but wont last 1 week. So keep trying cause I get no coasters at all with my fully featured Nero.

I really like the features of Nero and it was worthwhile to purchase. I want them to stay in business so I can get my updates! They have free trials and always try to improve their products. Lets not put them out of business by stealing their products. Use a free program like Burnatonce or Decrypter. If you can't afford to buy something, get off the computer and get a job.

ddlooping - of course thats the best way but remember people use rw disks as it may only do 1 half of the movie.

cheezzzz & fasfrank - here here by people doing that we lose the ability to gain access to these programs or it raises the price of the product to a price almost out of reach but at the same time I understand how vietorisz feels because in america lets say nero 6 sells for $100 here in Australia that equates to $200, double for me to buy something there in the US worth US$50 I have to get a money order or use my visa card which becomes AU$100 plus I then have to pay for converting the money then I have to pay for the transaction the if the postage is US$10 I pay AU$20 so by the time Im finished an item in american dollars including postage might be US$60 I have to pay AU$140 thats why a lot of people use keygens and patches (not saying I agree) but thats how it is. I have a program that I run due to a key gen and patch only because if I paid for it I would be up for US$300 which equaited to AU$700 and im not paying that price.

bluedogs, I guess the first part of your sentence was refering to DVDXCopy, but I must admit I don't know what you meant by the second one.

The price of Nero 6 is a serious point. I have been using Nero 5.5 without problems but when away on holiday in the far east I bought a copy of Nero 6 on disc. I realised that this was possibly a fake copy but installed it anyway. It seemed to work fine until I attempted to upgrade. Then a notice says that 'Nero has detected that you are using an unlicensed copy - please visit the Nero website to purchase a licence'. Strange because the disc came with a licence number on the sleeve and if this was not acceptable why was I allowed to install it? In the UK the price of downloading Nero 6 Ultra edition appears to have dropped to $70 (about £40) from $100. Why I ask? Could it be that Ahead software are manipulating the market or have decided that they have now made enough money out of us Brits that they can afford to do this? I would be quite happy to pay a modest amount to upgrade to 6, being a loyal user and already having purchased 5.5, but even $70 is too much in my opinion when the only main change in actual fact is the appearance from what I can tell. I will stick with 5.5 latest until Ahead can justify their charges and 'helping to further development' is not justifiable.

ddlooping - when I downloaded the trial version and started to use it it said the following

"As this version of DVDXCOPY is a trial version only it will only copy 50% of the movie"
