Have any of you guys tried using dvd x copy express? I didn't bother reading thru all the posts.

I've been using dvd x copy express which will automatically compress only the movie and then burn straight to dvd, takes about 20 minutes to read and convert to hdd, then about 13 minutes with a 4x disc, this is with a sony dru510 drive.

I've done a few backups, movie only, and seriously can't tell the difference. I have used a trial version of dvd x copy you can d/l off their site for free, allows you to burn 3 copies only.

This trial version had an entire disc option, so it would burn the extras aswell, but because it's compressing everything the video quality of the feature is ruined.

Anyway, it might read like an advertisement but it's not, lol, just a kickarse product.

I had the same problem with bulkpaq orange and nec-1300a burner - same software.

I just had to knock down the burning speed and they work fine :)

Sorry guys this thread is already long enough so discussions of DVD Copy Xpress and blank discs should be put in the apropriate alternative threads.

I am using TDK+R DVD Blank purchased in 15 pack for $2.00 CDN ea. at Costco. They worked fine using Shrink3 + Nero 6.0.028 I did not burn a single coaster yet! Burned lot of coasters with Memorex DVD blank, I reduce the recording speed to 2.4x although the media speed was 4X. Problem solve.

DVD Shrink+ CloneDVD= excellent video playback! (home dvd player\pc). 15 dvd movie backups= not a single coaster.
Nothing wrong with DVD2One+ Nero if it works for ya!

Rotary, I need your help - I am missing something
I got through the DVD Shrink, re-author etc fine - am trying to bury with Nero 5 and am using the guide. my problem is with the "no multisession" "disk at once" when I try to burn it gives me a message that it can not find the disk. Is my mistake checking "no multisession" instead of "multisession"? Is "track at once" the correct setting?
    Thanks,

    hi

    @ estc

    for nero rom not express!

OK! you have your reauthored vobs etc, and now you are on the burning process in nero! firat let me say i cant get any dvd-r backups to work myself with nero v6.0.0.23 but there are new nero's out now and to date i have not tried them so for me i use nero v5.0.0.48!

You need "NO MULTISESION" you set this before going to the UDF/ISO tab!!!! as multissesion will leave the disc OPEN to add more files later!

you need partition v1.02 and also are your settings these?

as the guide shows level 2 ! which i am not sure if it works or not?

also you need to make sure your drive is selected!

also i use DAO (disc at once!) not TAO...

have you got all this done?

Bluedogs and Rotary, Thank you for your help. I am missing something and just can't catch it for some reason. Nero 5, not Express, I have checked all the settings per your posts and everything is great until I burn. The window comes up, checks the files and then I get a "burn aborted can not find TOC" I have used Nero before to burn video files and not had a problem so I am sure I have a "Brain Cramp" or something. What think ye?
    Thanks

    hi

uninstall the cd rom drive in device manager! and uninstall nero! then re-install your ASPI layer!

then reboot! windows will find your drive and then install nero again!

also maybe first try this! go to start menu and nero and locate nero DRIVESPEED tool and use it on your drives so nero knows all specs!

    Thx.....

Ever try DVD Shrink+ CloneDVD?= Less headache& frustration or follow Rotary's instruction and try Nero... again.

That must have cost you an arm& a leg Rotary? AMD Athlon 3000+ processor cost over 300 buckaroos here in the USA. I see you're running 400 FSB= blazin' fast m8! I'll make my jump in the late Spring (2004).

Goes to show that the media is important. I created two coasters...well they would not play in my standalone Sony but only on my computer. Finally sucess at backing up my Pirates of the Caribbean. Sucess with the following: DVD Shrink, Clone DVD, and Maxell DVD+R media. The media that I had been using were the two discs which came with the Lite-on DVD burner that I just bought (don't know what brand they were). Thanks for all the good info out of this forum, since I was about to give up, until I read that the medium being used is enough to screw things up....sure enough that was all I was "doing wrong"!

Glad you brought that to the table as I later found out the 2 discs (dvd+r(w)) that came with my Litey are literally worthless for backing up a dvd. My backups of "The Cannonball Run& A League of Their Own" have "pixelation and audio\video sync errors at the end of the movie. So far I've had no troubles with Fuji, Maxell or Memorex dvd brand media. Both movies were less than 4.7 gig and I used DVD Decrypter and read as iso, then burned. Next time I'll choose a lower dvd rip speed and see what happens....

    Shoey :)
