Have been using HP dvd+r 8x media for some time with good results with Shrink and Decrypter combo (using instruction wisdom from bbmayo and Scuba Pete after setting aside my less good/more costly ClonerII). Recently copies have resulted in these 5-10 second pauses/freezes--after which picture resumes after taking with it a couple of seconds of the film and a sigh of relief that it was not a permanent freeze. Happens about 5 or more times spreed over whole film. The source disk is always clean and scratch free. Any suggestions for correcting this would really be appreciated.

Could be imperfections in your blank discs or too fast of a burning speed. Or a combination of both.

If you followed the wisdom of bbmayo, and scubapete, then why are you using HP media?
That stuff is pure junk, your symptoms are classic signs of bad media.

I had a similar problem with a backup of TROY, which I split onto two discs to save quality. I would get a 2-3 second pause/freeze every couple of minutes for the first hour of the movie (which I was playing on my trusty cyberhome home player). I tried it again the next day, and there were no problems. It only happened on this disc. It wasnt the media, as I use the MCC Verbs... It's a mystery to me, too! Try slowing down the burn speed.

I agree with jim_dandy on gerry's problem. Hp media is junk and more than likely made by cmc mag.

    HP DVD+R 2.4x (CMC MAG.R01)
    HP DVD+R 4x (CMC MAG.F01)
    HP DVD+R 4x (MCC.....002)
    HP DVD+R 8x (CMC MAG.E01)
    HP DVD+RW 4x (PHILIPS-041-000)

Only exception here is the dvd+rw (phillips 041) which is good media.
