I'm new to using these two programs, if fact have had only one successful burn. My question is just how long should it normally take to copy and burn a movie. I know that this depends on several things like burn speed, movie length, etc. But I have been able for several years using DVDXCOPY Gold to copy and burn quite guicker than I am now. Example while trying to copy SHANGHAI KNIGHTS itt took about 30 minutes to encode then came back and said it was going to take over and hour to burn. I must be doing something wrong.
I have a Dell Dimension 8100, 1.7 ghz, 768 mbz memory, Sony DW-U10A burner. Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Mike

Encoding time is really affected by the amount of compression needed and the speed of your microprocessor. Encoding in Shrink with little or no compression could take 10 minutes or less with burning taking 14 minutes at 4X. 50-60% compression encoding could take 35-40 minutes by itself.

For me, ripping a complete DVD takes 18 minutes, encoding on average around 20-25 minutes, and burning 14 minutes at 4X.

With your specs 30 mins to encode sounds about right.
Your burner only writes at 2x or 4x for -R, 2x for -RW and 2.4 for +R/RW
Xcopy defaults to burn at the max speed. If you are using Decrypter or Shrink w/ Nero to burn you can change your burn settings to the max your burner supports with the media you are using.
