    Hello All,

I have been using both these softwares for backing up my original movies. But when I tried to backup two new movies "Madagascar" & "Stealth"... they are not getting backed up.

The DVD Shrink gives the error as the disc format not recognized & DVD Decrypter gave the following errors...

"W 12:38:50 Failed to read Sector 283702 - Unrecovered Read Error"
"E 12:41:59 Failed to read Sector 283703 - Unrecovered Read Error"

I had to choose "Ignore" to proceed.. but the end ISO file won't open in Deamon Software.

Is anyone having the same problems.?? Is there a solution.??

    Thanks,
    S.

Try ripping with DVDFab decrypter. Handles the newer encryptions.

Did you have AnyDVD running in the background?

Try using AnyDvd and DvDDecrypter in file mode, then try to use shrink on the decrypted files. Has worked for me so far, I will be trying stealth later on this week so I will see if it works.

You sound like you are getting the same error message I was getting with the new movie "Bewitched". I finally decided to buy AnyDVD (my trial expired months ago). I'm sure this is the answer to your problem.

I had this running in the background and tried DVD Shrink again and this time had no error messages during the burn. I didn't even need to use DVD Decrypter or DVDFab Decrypter. AnyDVD took care of everything. DVDfab (free version) can be downloaded from http://www.dvdidle.net/free.htm.

If you order it today, there is a $10 off promo for afterdawn members. During the ordering process type "afterdawn" in the Promotional/Coupon box and they will change price to $29 instead of $39. I think the offer expires today (NOVEMBER 15).

All the topics I have read this morning concerning DVD burn issues, AnyDVD seems to always be part of the solution. I'm sold.

I just read my message and realized I was confusing. This paragraph is refering to ordering ANYDVD; not DVDFab Decrypter:

    Hello 9mmruger1 / konfused1,

So, is this DVDFab Decrypter software similar in workings as the DVD Decrypter.?

After I decrypt the files using DVDFab Decrypter.. do I then create the ISO image file using DVD Shrink?

    Thanks,
    S.

Yes, exactly. If you use the bbmayo site in my signature block he has a detailed guide with pictures for using DVDFab with shrink and decrypter to burn. Excellent stuff.

    cheers.

    Hello 9mmruger1,

I will check your website for the guides/help.

So, can I now give "national honor & bury" DVD Decrypter software and start using the DVD-FAb software along with DVD Shrink?

    Thanks again.

If the errors are almost identically with the derived from "bewitched" as it is mentioned above then probably theese movies have incorporated the sony's arcoss protection. If you want to go further you have to use pgcedit with psl2 plugin support.
Look in afterdawn for synthia's post about "bewitced".

A.) Stealth can be ripped to the hard drive using either of the two following methods (both of which use FREE applications:

    1. Use DVDFab Decrypter, or

    2. DVD Decrypter, with use of applicable PSL2 file (for region 1, Stealth widescreen PSL2file, go to: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=57354

    B.) Once you get ripped to hard drive, use DVD Shrink (or Nero Recode) to compress/reauthor;

C.Burn using DVD Decrypter (or Nero). (Note: Nero products are not free.)

    Hope this helps.

The biggest issue of trying to decode some of these DVDs is that they purposefully read the wrong DVD structure, so if you use DVDFab Decrpyter to rip, you'll get rid of most of the copyright protection structure, but you won't be able to compress the main movie at all.

AnyDVD fixes this issue. I was wondering why the heck I wasn't able to compress Stealth until I decided to download this program. VOILA! I can now compress it with DVD Shrink and fit it onto a 4.7 gig disc.

    Hi all,

I can offer a solution that worked fine with Madagascar (not sure about Bewitched).

    What you need to do is as follows;

    1. Rip with DVD Fab Decrypter
    2. Open VOB Blanker, select source as image in 1.
    3. Select Destination as a new folder
    4. Click Process in Vob Blanker and new image will be saved to 'new folder' in 3.
    5. Open DVD Shrink and click Re-Author, select image in 'new folder' in 3.
    6. Do your usual thing in DVD Shrink and burn using DVD Decrypter (through Shrink).

Voila, a perfect no frills copy.

    Hope that helps!

I'm no expert but hopefully this will be of use to some people.

    Cheers
    Nick

Hmmm...I just used decryptor and dvdshrink and I didn't have any problems with "Madagascar". I don't use AnyDVD, and I backed it up, and it is a perfect copy.

Nickbrown, you said you are using DVD FAB and than using VOB Blanker.
Why are using VOB, DVD FAB does it. It doen`t make sense.
