Guys i really can't figure out what i had done wrong with dvd shrink!! Ok i use dvd shrink to compress a dvd-9 to dvd-5 with no problems, but when i try to open the back up movie i got the following error from dvd shrink "Failed to open file". The reason is: The system cannot find the file specified"???? Cheers
ozrookie, Sounds like you might have misplaced your VIDEO_TS file - Happens to us all at some point - try this hint - HINT: I create a folder on my HD named "DVD Work" and before ripping my DVD’s I create another sub-folder with the name of the movie I'm backing up. (I.e. DVD Work\Pirates of the Caribbean.) When you click "Backup" in DVDShrink, a box will come up saying "Target Folder:” click "Browse" and trace your path back to "DVD Work\ Pirates of the Caribbean " - when DVDShrink is finished, it will give you your VIDEO_TS folder already made for you in your DVD Work\ Pirates of the Caribbean folder and you’re good to go. Now, if you wish, you can burn it days down the road. At one point I had 23 movies sitting there, just waiting for my shipment of blank DVD media to arrive. When you wish to burn, use the "File Browser" in Nero (don’t use Wizard) to trace your path back again to DVD Work\ Pirates of the Caribbean, you don’t have to try to remember where your work is or if you need to do anymore work on it, it is completely finished, ready to go – you are done and done – ************************************************* Also possible you've got too much stuff on your clipboards. Try rebooting your system and trying again, XP can do that - Enjoy and Merry Christmas, "P"
Thanks for your speedy reply...i just want to know the last question, how come everytime on my disc the name always begin with "DVDSRINK_xxxxxxxx" where x is just the numbers b/w 0-9???? When you open your dvd disc does the name similar to mine???? Thanks once again!
ezrookie, I think I know what you mean - the disc name when you put it in the player ? If that's what you are talking about, when you are in Shrink and click "Backup" you have a "Target File" listed on top, under that it says "Provider I.D." You may type anything you wish there and it will label your disc. When using New Compilation in Nero - you may also go to the "Label" tab and enter a name for your disc there - see if those are any help - Have a great Christmas evening - "P"
Hi Scuba Pete - sorry to barge in on a topic, but you mentioned (I.e. DVD Work\Pirates of the Caribbean.) I have that film and my question is Pirates related. I have Region 2 uk shop bought disk, I want to copy it, but get told to go away by both DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. Some form of copy protection i guess?? The DVD Decrypter says something about keys then titel authentication failed. Have you seen this or do you know what I'm doing wrong? It is cuz my drive if new and not region locked? is it the disk? Is it just not meant to be? any help would be super cool++ Thanks
s8nsch1ld, There is an option in DVD DeCrypter to make the back up region free. I personally like AnyDVD, a quiet little program that operates behind the scenes and rips and opens up AnyDVD (like the name says) no matter what the region - or copy write – Here is the download link – http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/anydvd.cfm Enjoy, "P"
ozrookie, I have been watching and upon occasion I have received the EXACT same warning - "Failed to open file The system cannot find the file specified" As I suggested to you, I checked my work and even tried other programs thinking that Shrink ran up against something it couldn't handle - I began keeping notes and this is what I found, 1. It happened when I had allot going on in my system - Full clipboard, multi-tasking etc. in ALL CASES !! SOLUTION - in the last 5 out of 5 times - just re-booting my system and returning to DVDShrink and everything worked PERFECTLY !!! Put it on a "Postie" and give it a shot should it happen again - "P"
