I started experiencing a problem a few days ago when backing up my DVDs. FWIW, I'm using DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 and Nero 7. After Shrink does its thing, Nero starts up, and the burn progress never goes past 2%. It will sit in the dvd drive and keep burning, and then it eventually stops. I can tell by looking at the underside of the DVD that it's stopping at the same point every time. It's happened with multiple movies of mine, so it's not just one movie. For my backups, I'm using Verbatim DVDs that I've never ever had a problem with. The only recent change I've made to my computer is installing Musicmatch Jukebox. That's it.

I also tried using DVDFab HD Decrypter 4 to see if it was a Shrink thing, but I still eventually ended up with the same exact error. I tried using Nero alone, and I was able to successfully create a data DVD.

Does anyone have experience with this? Thank you in advance for any advice you may have.

If I'm not mistaken, it looks like you're trying to burn 16x media at 2x. Try 6x or 8x.
    File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=8.0.0.212 , size=9464 bytes, created 3/7/2007
    You should also remove Roxio.

I had the same problem with memorex dvd-r discs not long ago.
about 40 were good out of a 50 pk, then about 10 coasters!
    go figure!

That log was probably the fifth error I experienced. I tried changing several things, and one of them was the burn speed. That hasn't been an issue in the past. That's what's odd about this. Nothing has changed, but all of a sudden I can't back up dvds. I can burn data dvds with the same media and Nero, no problem, but add Shrink to the equation, and I have problems.

What are my other (fairly simple, user-friendly) backup options that don't include using Shrink? Thanks again.

I thought it was the discs too; that's why I tried burning a data dvd with Nero just for the heck of it. That worked fine. I'm no computer expert, but I can usually troubleshoot fairly well. This issue is preplexing.

    also.which program u using to rip/decrypt ur dvd's???
sounds like Nero is trying to burn the bad sectors from the original that should have been removed by decryption software!!!

I personally use the following method(not saying you dont already know this, just trying to help):::

    1.rip/decrypt with DVDfab5 or HDdecryptor
2.re-encode with dvd shrink for proper file size
3.burn manually with nero (about 8x)

    hope this helps!!!

also the problem I had with Memorex discs was that my drive wouldnt read them at all, and if it did it only would write at 2x.Nexxtechs do the same thing too!all that will work for me is some cheap-ass HP's and overpriced Sony media-like I said gonna try to see if +r's work any better
