Hi, I have been using DVD Shrink for a while now. But, recently it does not copy the dvds that are dual layers. The copying process starts & then halts after a while giving the error "DVD shrink cannot further copy... cycle redundency.. blah..blah" This happens only to those dvds that nowadays have dual layered movies in them. Please advise / assist. Thanks, Sandy.
DVD Shrink is no longer being updated so it can't cope with the new encryptions...there are a couple of free options that you can try. Ripit4Me- http://www.ripit4me.org Guides: RipIt4Me..Quick Reference Guide http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110 An animated tutorial how to use the Wizard with RipIt4Me http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=68097 or DVDFab Decrypter- http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm VobBlanker- http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm Guides: DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker guide by alkohol http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/334154 You post can be a bit tricky the way it's worded, if you are trying to actually copy a dual layer movie onto dual layer media you shouldn't be using DVD Shrink in the first place. If you are interested in making DL backups you might consider one of these methods: Imgburn- http://www.imgburn.com Guides: Burning DVD Video files directly to double layer media with ImgBurn http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1780 Creating a double layer ISO on your hard drive using ImgBurn http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1777 or http://www.digital-digest.com/~blutach/dl_burn_guide2/dl_burning_with_pgcedit_v2.htm Here is a little bit about your CRC error:
^^ hey loco sup @sorta_guy, yes use imgburn to burn your DL, it's the best IMO,do a serch lotsa guides. never use shrink for DL burning.
Hello All, Sorry, if my question was a bit vague.. what I meant was I am trying to copy a dual layered DVD thru the DVD Shrik onto a single layered dvd.. but the software starts copy process.. but after a few minutes it gives that error mesg. Thx, S
One of the methods in my post above should get you sorted...the easiest would be DVDFab Decrypter and VobBlanker.
nothing wrong with locos guides don't get me wrong, there's other guides too from different sites thats somtimes worded a little different. can never have enough guides to read when your first starting out.
Hello, I tried another DVD.. the following message came when the DVD Shrink was analysing DVD... "DVD Shrink encountered any error & cannot continue.. Invalid DVD navigation...". The Shrink software stops scanning alltogether. WHats this & how can it be resolved.? Thx, Sandy.
hello sorta_guy, Like LOCO said in his first post dvd shrink cant handle the new protections on the newer DVDs, What movies r u trying to copy? So to fix this u have to use other programs(First) before u can use shrink, programs that are listed in LOCO's post. Or if u only want to use shrink then u can buy ANYdvd which will allow u to use shrink, there is a free trial period for it. heres link for anydvd (free 21 day trial) http://www.slysoft.com/en/
Hi All, The webpage, http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/fixvts_guide.cfm shows a software FixVTS. Do I have to copy the files from the DVD into a folder on C: drive & follow the given instructions? Thanks, Sandy.
It depends on which method you are using...I gave you 2 methods to rip your disc to your HDD. If you are ripping using RipIt4Me, then FixVTS is included in the process and should be pretty automatic, the guide(s) show you how to backup your movie from start (ripping to HDD) to finish (burning a nice shiney new DVD). If you are using DVDFab and VobBlanker you won't even need FixVTS. Please read the guides, this is really simple stuff.
Thanks loco.. really appreciate your help. I know that its like 'reinventing' the wheel.. but its fun to learn new things. I will try the DVDFab and VobBlanker approach on ur guide.. it looks simple. Will post any issues I face. Thanks again. S
Once you have ripped with DVDFab and then processed the files with VobBlanker you will need this guide: Burning DVD Video files directly to double layer media with ImgBurn http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1780 To finish burning your disc to DL media. Good luck and happy burning.
Arrg.. sorry.. I did run the dvd thru DVDFab and then processed the files with VobBlanker. Now do I scan the updated dvd files (that are now in the C drive) thru DVD Shrink so as to create an image file that can be burned in dvd?? Thx, S
I've been able to copy from dual layer from shrink on some items. i just go to reauthor and select main title and hit back up
If your burning a DL from shink not a good idea, dvdshrink isn't a good DL burner. try ImgBurn works great, great results, try it....
