when trying to decode a dvd i get this following message

DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue

    Failed to read from file

The reason is:the parameter is incorrect

Does this mean the real disk is stuffed or is it a setting im missing...cheers

Could be a couple of things:

    1) DVD Shrink has trouble ripping some discs. That's why it's a good ideer to have a backup ripper like DVD Decrypter(free). Be sure to rip the DVD in FILE mode tho, that way you can compress/process with DVD Shrink afterwards.

    2) Your source disc may be dirty. Even a minor, seemingly transparent smudge can effect the read/rip process. I've seen posts by people who swore up and down that the disc was 100% clean, but when they cleaned it again, their problem was solved.

    hawkwindz,

If your problem continues, do the following,

    1. Reboot the computer to "clean out" the memory.

    2. Use Task manager to stop all the programs running in the background.

A message such as the one you've gotten is many times generated when there isn't enough memory for DVDShrink to operate with, clean disc or not, try another media, not another of the same type, a piece of Named brand stuff - (me I use a DVD-RW, media to make sure the path is clear

    Good luck,
