DVD Shrink region problem, I think

    I am using DVD Shrink and Nero 6, works fine if I rip and burn region 4, where I am.
    If I try a region 2 or 3 disc to region free, I get clear horizontal lines across the screen. I am using a Sony DRU510a drive. My DVD player is a Samsung unit which I cannot make region free, no matter how hard I try, so I need to convert or region free some discs.Also if I play the discs back in a computer drive, I get black horizontal flicks across the screen, so it's not the TV or DVD player. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks, Patto.

    Maybe try a different brand of disk.

    I haven't tried any out of region backups, but have read that there could be a video compatability problem across regions as is PAL to NTSC. Just a guess. Jerry

    Thanks Ozy and Jerry,
    I have tried other discs, I tend to stick with
    Verbatims though, I never get any failures with them.
    I am really stumped with this as I thought DVD was just that, DVD standard data.
    I have thought about the PAL/NTSC thing but my machine plays NTSC and my tv (Sony) accepts it too.
    Anyways, thanks guys, I am grateful for any ideas.Patto.
