Dvd shrink stops during encoding when you back it up

I see half of the movie files in the folder. It works but it doesn't complete the job. I tried copying 2 protected movies so far : Blue Hill Ave and War of the Worlds. I got tired of this process. I went in and got the frame where it last left off till the end and it worked. The files aren't the same. I'm doing this from the original disc in the dvd drive, nothing was saved on my hard drive. Where it says in the back up folder-select backup target: At 1st I tried it in the F drive which is my dvd/cd burner and above it says burn with nero 8. Then I tried putting them in the hard disk folder. It still did the same thing. I thought the disk was too high so I did the ratio thing. Still nothing. I'm not focusing on burning, I just want the copy so I can convert it to a zune and ipod file. Please excuses my english, I've been up for 15 hrs on this thing. Can anyone tell me what to do or what I need in order for this to work. I heard about the descriptor, it copies dvds to the hard drive. Now is dvd shrink and that the same? do I need them both? I need help. Please just tell me what all do I need. I can figure out how to use it. Thanks
