Which would have a better quality picture, DVD Shrink or DVD Fab Platinum?

I haven't bought a program to do this since 2002 when I was one of the fools to purchase DVD X Copy. It only lasted a couple of months, then I joined AfterDawn and have been using the free stuff ever since.(Which by the way is great)

But I am thinking of purchasing DVD Fab Platinum. I am ready for all of the professionals on here to give me their advise.

dvd rebuilder is the best if compression is involved

    try them all here

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/622748

and it doesn't boil down to dvd shrink vs dvdfab. other factors are more important

    1. the size of the TV set you are playing it back on. a 60" SXRD Sony compared to a 32" CRT will vary alot at 80% compression
    2. the % of compression the movie will need

these two factors are whats most important

doing the movie only without doing the menus extras etc. gives you alot less compression consider that.

DVD Rebuilder which is an encoder yields almost perfect picture quality even at 60% compression rate compared to using dvd shrink or dvdfab.

so to give you a correct answer we need to know
the size of you're TV and you're process

52" HDTV. Menu, no menu, I have backed up both ways, it doesn't really matter.

I know that you asked about picture quality, but since DVD Shrink is no longer updated to keep up with the newer copy protection schemes I rarely use it anymore. My normal is to rip with DVDFab and compress with DVD Rebuilder.

people post this question alot and it boils down to the size of there TV and the compression. not necessarily the software.

with a 52" anything below 80% compression you will want to use DVD Rebuilder after ripping with dvdfab for the best picture quality.

Do be aware that dvd rebuilder does tend to take a bit longer on its rebuilding process, upwards of a few hours compared to dvd shrink, but the finished picture is well worth the wait.

    I agree.
It takes longer because it does what it's name states. It rebuilds the DVD.

And the additional time necessary doesn't bother me in the least. The overall quality is well worth the extra time involved.

    dialysis1, "I don't understand.
If it doesn't matter. then why the question?"

Menu or no menu, it doesn't matter to me if it has them. I just wanted to know which one of the programs would have a better quality picture.

I thank everybody for the responses. I was looking for a "one click" program to do it all, but after reading your posts and reading about DVD Rebuilder, I think I'll go that way. If Creaky uses this method, it has to be worth it.

Just to give me an idea of how long the process will take, has anyone backed up "The Day The Earth Stood Still" with DVD Fab Decrypter and DVD Rebuilder? How long did it take?

ripping with dvdfab and encoding with dvd rebuilder and burning with imgburn or nero should take you about 2 hours plus according to you're PC specs. with my system per my PC specs about 45 mins.

I usually average 60 to 70 minutes to run rebuilder on a full length movie. That is with a dual-core @ 3.0 ghz.

I did buy DVDFab Platinum.Should have did this along time ago.I can back up the same copy without redownloading it.It is so easy and fast and their updates always break the code.It was worth it and now that I have spoken to me Shrink is Dead. This will be my last reply in here for I no longer need Shrink.I'm now at CDFreaks for Fab Platinum.Thank You all for help in the past.
