    Hey pete,
I remember what you told me, if you're not using DVD43 or AnyDVD you're wasting a lot of time.

When and Where did I say that ????

Speaking in reference to when you were acclaiming the laurels of recode and how good and time saving DVD43 was. 1 + 1; Previous posts and they may not have been directed right at me.

DVD43 works ok but if you have to rip the disk anyway and rippers also decrypt, then doesn't that make DVD43 redundant?

Sophocles, not if you're using it in conjunction with recode, because recode doesn't rip. With DVD43 running-one step, open Nero. [IMG]

    Hey Big Orange,
I only tried to use the DVD43 to open WinDVD and it was a no go. However, I did use AnyDVD to try both. AnyDVD would run with Recode and not WinDVD. I'd say the same would be true of the free DVD43 though I didn't check due to my hatred of the program. Little puke turned my System 32 into a popup file at boot.

Even though I have a fast PC and lots of RAM, I rarely record on the fly to avoid coasters and as a result I overlooked that benefit. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Hey brobear, I was mainly just talking about de-encryption, I also use Anydvd, and have actually never used DVD43, but I know it works on the same premise, and some people don't want to pay the bucks. to Sophocles: yeah, I see your point, but I do it on the fly all the time, maybe I'm just lucky, but no coasters yet. There are times when you can't, thus the reason I'm adding another 120g's which , I believe, you helped me with in another thread. BTW, I went with Western Digital. Thanx. [IMG]

    Hey Big Orange,
WD is good stuff, I had an 80 and knew that was tinker land. So, I added a 250 GB WD. Works great and I may have enough storage to last till next month (yuk-yuk). Now I have 330 GB total and everything is working great. Like Sophocles, I'd say you'll like the product.

Evil little smiley face DVD43, I wish the writer had it up his wazoo. As I said I don't appreciate it turning the System 32 folder into a popup. Nothing added or done on the PC except mail and checking threads here at AfterDawn. Thought I'd try the DVD43 that everybody was saying was a good thing. As soon as I put it on and rebooted the problem started. I'd say I won't be the only one with the problem (XP systems) and I know for a fact it was that piece of cheap crap. So a lot of people will end up the butt of a bad joke with those sick little smiley faces.

Now that you mention it borbear I had the DbpPower Amp CD player popping up everytime I booted. I'm not making any claims that DVD43 was the cause but it is an interesting coincident.

I don't know how the piece of crap intertwines with the system, but I guess I'll find out. DVD43 is causing some other weird stuff to happen as well. Think it did something to the registry. I'm going to have to shutdown and do some maintenance. Don't you just love a freebie that goes South. Nobody to tell they can stick it up the 'old wazoo'.

I'm almost certain that it's a registry problem. You might want to try a system restore first. Good luck!

The context of that statement was as long as DVD43 was running, it was a waste of time to use DVD Decrypter.

Translation: One will be wasting time doing the same job over and over.

Running DVD Decrypter then running Smartripper is wasting time. It doesn't mean DVD Decrypter is better, faster or smarter than Smartripper - I simply mean the job was done, why do it again ?

    Okis, Dokie ?

I got a good deal and added another 80, that gives me a total of 280, it ain't 330 but I bet I don't get that damn virtual memory warning for a while. I've been recommending dvd43 to people who don't want to pay for anydvd, guess they can go back in time (wish I could) and do a system restore. I gotta say, a program that decrypts and u never know it's there with absolutely NOTHING to do, well worth 39.00. [IMG]

    brobear,

Me thinks you give too much credit to the "Smiley face."

Nothing there to mess ya up -

My thinks ya might need a registry cleaner. When's the last time you ran a system clean program like
    System Mechanic ?

    http://www.wugnet.com/shareware/spow.asp?ID=235

If you haven't then it's about time -

Use their trial period and clean your system up :p)

    Cheers,

    Pete

I use the freeware BeClean, seems to do a good job, how is it compared to system mechanic? (oops, sorry, probably the wrong forum, responded without thinking) [IMG]

    Big,

Suggest you try and make up your own mind - the link is there.

    Sophocles, You link dead-ends.

When recommending programs ALWAYS include negative info too. Not compatible with XP or ME.

    We're working on a problem here guys, - let's focus - -

There will be no additional discussion of Registry cleaners on this thread. It was mentioned as a remedy for a problem not as an intro for debate.

    brobear,

    Let's clean your Registry -

    Pete
