Hey you guys, im just helping people out with their backup problems, first time in a forum discussion but anyway, use the VobBlanker 1.6.0.3 program, first put the dvd you want to burn in Input Folder, sounds pretty simple, then for the Output Folder make it "C:\Resident Evil 2" then process (default). When that is all done open up the DVD Shrink program (i use 3.2) then make sure it is set to "Full Disc" and then "Open Files" and get the files from "C:\Resident Evil 2" or wherever you saved it i found this easier. Then click on the Backup Icon, where it says "Select Backup Target" make sure it is set on "Hard Disk Folder" and for "Select Target Folder For DVD Output Folders" make a folder called "C:\Resident Evil 2\MOVIE" then Check the box for "Create VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS subfolders" and then click OK. When that is done encoding, burn it using Nero Burning Rom and make a new "DVD VIDEO" and then take the files from the "C:\Resident Evil 2\MOVIE\Video_TS folder, and drag those files to the Video_TS folder on the DVD you are creating. All default settings, worked awesome backed up the whole movie. Sorry it was so long, but it should work for you all with problems.
hi there! lots of good advice here! to add a note on the subject you might want to make sure your burners firmware is up to date as well as make sure you have the latest versions of your favorite ripping programs! your choice of burner can make a difference with this type of thing, i prefer the Liteon drives, they are very good drives and normaly less than $90.00 US also if your running XP you might want at least 512MB of ram and a 1 gig or better CPU. hope this helps!
Hey yall, I'm new on this bussines , and also had trouble backing up Resident Evil 2 apocap...Anyway, "Emokid" said to use the VobBlanker 1.6.0.3 program, and in my case at firts it was just like it frezed up on me and when I tray to "cancel'... it didn't , on the contrary, it begun processing, then later I use Shrink and it worked perfect... Hey "Emokid" to whatever you are .... Thanks a bunch
wow...lots of great help on this page.. i have tried 3 of you fine ppl recommendations, and i have found that Super DVD Copy..( by saugmon)..worked the easiest and fastest.. it basically does the same as dvdshrink just follow the #2 step of this tut..and it when it askes you if you want to split movie..just click no...hope this might help someone ..it worked great for me 1. One click to backup your favorite DVD 2. Only save your movie to hard disk 3. Burn disc from hard disk movie 4. Split hard disk movie to fit in DVD-5 5. Advanced mode 6. Auto Split Advanced Mode bob
I would like to add my thoughts on DVD burners as well. I have not had good luck with Lite On Burners. I have had two lite on burners die on me as well as one pioneer. I also would like to note that when i used the lite on DVD burner it would not play in all my DVD players, however, my new NEC dvd burner with the exact same media plays in all of my DVD players. I have JVC, Sanyo, and APEX dvd players. I also prefer Ritek disks, I have never had a bad disk from ritek. They may be a little more than some other brands but other brands I have used have not had good results. I have to say that the combonation of my NEC burner and ritek media I have not found a DVD player yet that they would not play on. I am sure that there are plenty out there, but this seems to be a winning combonation for me. I know own two NEC DVD burners and they are only about 66 dollars.
Hello flabob, glad to see you got that backed up. I found that program searching the humungous resident evil apocalype thread in dvd-r newbies,I forget what member advised this program,it was on page 2 or 3..Many thanks to that member. It was only a couple extra clicks. I am going to keep this in my arsenal, little black book sounds like another toughie. Later
A am trying it now a method now. It's wierd I just started this whole DVD backup thing like 5 days ago.I got myself a Sony DRU-710a Dual-Layer burner. Now I meet my first challenge, New Copywrite protection/encryption? I tried RE2 & it froze at 1%. Now I am running ANY-DVD & using DVD-Decrypter it is at 19%. I will post again to let you guys know If It worked. Please keep adding to this thread it is good.
I am trying dvd-idle & dvd-decrypterI'll let you guys know if it works. Because the 1st thing I tried did not work.
hey dvd let me know how long dvd decrypter took for you...it ook forever for me, so i aborted it... and i tried "vobblank"...well looked at it anyway...i dont think im as advanced to learn that yet lol...but looks like a good program... bob
Ok I used DVD-IDLE then dvd-shrink I did notice one thing tho it downgraded the quality of the DVD.Where as if I use DVD-Decrypt is till looks sharp. I made a DVD using CLONE-DVD. So run dvd-idle. Then I burn it using clone dvd. Has anyone e-mailed the coders of dvd-decrypter? Maybe they release new update to bypass this new protection. DVD-Decypter took about an hour it got to 99% then files failed and I was unable to make a dvd. Botttom line easiest way. (keep in mind I am a newb I just bot my burner like last week. 1.) Use DVD-idle ( looks like this program runs in the baclground and breaks the protection somehow.(trial version) 2.) Use DVD-Shrink to extract the files. (free program) 3.) then use clone-dvd to make the actual disk. (free progrm)
Hey dvdcopier,Staples have + 16x verbatims.Also ritek makes +16x. I can get 16x on my sony +1-8x code #d11.
hey guys..i just ordered this from meritline.com...my first external....is it a good buy...it comes this week..thx for the advice http://meritline.com/firewire-1394-external-pioneer-dvr-108-16x-dual-layer-dvd-burner.html
This is how I got my back up using DVD-Idle and took 15 minutes minus burning DVD. Install DVD-Idle and open DVD Shrink. 1 Open Disc with DVD Shrink and DVD-Idle running in the back ground. It should complete the Analyze operation with no problems. 2 Select the Re-author button at the top and DVD Browser tab. 3 Move down to the Main Movie section of the left window. Note that: Title 1 should be the Wide Screen movie. Title 2 should be the Full Screen movie. Pick the movie type you want and drag it to the DVD left window. 4 Now to remove the 2 minutes of blankness at the start of the movie select the Start/End Frames button at the top of the DVD window next to the Delete button. When the dialog box opens just move the Start Frame slider to ware you want the movie to start and then click OK. The start ofthe movie that was chosen should now be seen in the movie player at the bottom left of the screen. 5 At this point select Backup! and store the movie in a folder. What you get is one uncompressed movie with no menu and no extras. If burned to a DVD the movie will start after you drop it in a player but it can be paused at that point. You can add a menu with the software of your choice if you wish. I simply wanted one backup and this worked fine for me.
