Run AnyDVD in the background then use DVDShrink to backup the DVD. Works everytime. Back-up The Forgotten with no problem.

I didnt have any problems in backing up either Grudge or The forgotton, using the old fashioned DvD Shrink method and burning them with Decrypter, upto now, R.E.Apocalypse has been the only hitch.

However, now I have solved that one, I bite my fingernails in anticipation for the next movie.

Heres my way of copying RE 2:

    Install Slysoft anydvd..........REBOOT
Download 321 Studio's DVDX Copy Platium or Gold.
(can be found as a torrent if trackers are down try
    edonkey)
Copy as you would normally though that dvd software.

As anydvd has removed copy protection you can copy
though windows (explore dvd drive and copy all VOB files, it takes way over an hour and i think some files may still be copy protected to stop burning to disc. I have not tested full back-up and burn cause i dont have a duel-layed dvd-writer but through dvdx just select movie to copy else it'll crash plus when backed up perfectly to disc, burn to dvd-rw then back through DVD-shrink cause theres a warning menu made by dvdx which is annoying and done.

it cannot be played on the pc cause each .VOB file has different audio that is fixed for sure when putting to disc.

falcon 'fraid that doesn't help at all. And this is from a salesman!. And he gives away Shrink free with HIS drives. wow he's kind, especially considering Shrink is free anyway !!

I somehow think you've been hoodwinked. So you think that the new Archos protection was written deliberately to only allow Toshiba drives to bypass the encryption. Puleeeez !. I would read the gazillions of threads about Archos protections. Oh and sign up to the Decryptor forum, ya can post your theory on there and see what the guy who wrote DVD Decryptor makes of your Toshiba revelation.

that's great that it's working. it's a shame the whole dvd burning game isn't easier. ie drives are so hit and miss, and as for media, boy is that hit, miss and miss. what makes me wonder is that you can (in my experience) buy almost any smelly cheapy cd and it'll work , even for decent audio. maybe its cus cd writing is quite old now. dvd burning however is fairly new, a glance thru forums like this show how many simple problems affect so many people, and in different ways. I just think it'l get worse when newer technologies/media come along, especially as there'll be stupid amounts of data involved.
Re-reading my last post it looked a tad harsh, sorry, i fend off salesman quite often, i rate them along with recruitment agencies. don't trust /listen to any of them as all they wanna do is sell you what's good for them.

    :)

Here's what I did... *Keep in mind this beats all copy protection I have encountered*

1.) Get Latest version of DVD-Shrink

2.) Get latest version of Clone-DVD

    3.) Latest version of DVD-Decrypter
(Edit DVD-Decrypter settings to latest settings, these can be found somewhere in this post probably page 3 or

4)That's it you should be able to beat any movie. Hope this help.

5.) Get latest version of DVD-IDLE

What we need now is a list of known dvd movies, that have such encryption problems, Does anyone know whether or not there is a difference in format between Retail or Rental movies. I ask this because the retail version of "The Grudge", had no problem getting backed up using DvDShrink, whereas the rental version could only be cracked using Super Copy DVD.

Guinness on stand by for ya mate ;)
